Afternoon all
Thanks for good wishes. I don't think I am doing very much atm, certainly compared to usual, and things have been left, which is why I get frustrated. Actually I am sitting down loads
So far today I have:
Got up late, as I was awake for hours during the night, and got up for a cup of hot choc at about 1am
Last of HG strawberries for breakfast
Sowed some carrot and beetroot seeds, as OH had dug the rest of the potatoes and worked the ground down. It is really, really dry though
Load of washing out on line to dry, the upside of all the dry weather we are getting I suppose!
Pulled out some half grown cabbage plants which I will chop up for dinner. I hate it when they get covered in caterpillars, so would rather have them out and use them once I see those horrid white butterflies flying about
Pulled out a couple of poppies that have finished flowering
Cut some lower leaves off of fairly rubbish tomato plants - the upright ones which have to have the sideshoots taken out and be staked etc. Why did I bother with them? The bush tomatoes look brilliant, love being outside and there will be ripe tomatoes in about a week I should think!
Got OH to put up a mirror in the bedroom. It isn't quite what I want, but will do till the right one comes along at the right price! In the meantime I will sell the one that it is replacing.
Sorted out clutter on dressing table and put lots of stuff away, also gave it a good dust, much needed
Last night's leftover frittata was for lunch
Dinner will be a casserole that I have already made
DNMS, take care, hope you get that tooth sorted out soon
CLF, take care, thinking of you xx0 -
Hello!
I'm back again. I was foolishly tricked into thinking I'd finished my exam marking when sneaky exam board gave me another 63 papers and didn't tell me about it. It should have been a 2 day job but I am end of term exhausted and had a hangover on Saturday, plans on Sunday and parents evening last night. However it's all done now, and I still have 8 days until we go on holiday so I need to get through the last week of work whilst packing for hols and trying to hang onto my very hard earned pennies.
I am following along - sorry to hear the sad news CLF.
Lots of love to everyone else.
So I have a little list of things that I need to do before we head off next weekend and I'm still going to be busy, but I should be checking in a bit more often from now on :jNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning all :hello: it's fridaaaaaaay
It's felt along time coming this week, need to be productive as I'm on a deadline today:
Check banking, update sheet
Post a card, will walk to Post office
Go for a run
Packed lunches from not a lot :rotfl:
Take some items back for a refund
Decluttering a bag of crisp wrappers to a place that now recycled them :T
Little bit of tidying
Work from home
Have a good day everyone. Purps.0 -
Morning all,
Just making my way through a very large coffee, then at 8a.m, I shall be shifting my backside into gear. Today's frugal tasks:
*Clean entire house using minimal products & washable cloths, Inc some I made yesterday from old hand towels.
*Make a picnic to take on our day trip tomorrow.
*Declutter today's 12 items.
*Update grocery budget following last night's delivery.
*Bath, hair wash, paint toenails, etc, generally a nice pamper using up my stash. Going to try a coffee grounds foot scrub too.
*Water veggies.
*Water & feed front containers & hanging baskets plus conservatory plants to keep everything going as long as poss.
*Reply to solicitor - the sooner this is all done, the sooner we can get the legal bills settled. One has come in lower than quoted, we haven't seen the other one yet.
*Defrost salmon for tonight's meal. Thinking back to Spendy Years, forgetting to take food out of freezer was one of our most common excuses to send out for a takeaway.
*Listen to another 'Slow Home' podcast. I'm already thinking I might alter how I do my daily task lists.
*All free leisure.... Knit more of my current stash busting sock, listen to audio book, read library book, etc.
*Pick another bunch of sweet peas.
*Update my DFW diary.
Cheers all,

Morning all
It is really hot already, and no rain forecast for the foreseeable future
Anyway, today's small things:
Peg bedlinen on line to dryDone, dry, folded and ready to put away now
Check banks and update spreadsheet Done
Check for surveys Done
Freecycler is supposed to be coming to collect a small pile of old concrete slabs by the back gate this morning - hoping they turn up! Yay! All gone, love a bit of decluttering, and nice to think they will be reused
Sort out grandkids' toys and try to get them all in one place! Threw some out, put some better bits in the CS bag. There are still a lot, but they are all in the dining room now, except for the big box of lego. The older kids can play with it upstairs if they want, but I don't fancy the idea of 18 month old GS tipping it all out / sticking it up his nose etc!
Some ironingDone
Water whatever needs it in the garden Done
Pulled out some poppies that had gone over in my[STRIKE] jungle [/STRIKE] raised bed, and sowed some more beetroot
Gave the rest of the strawberries a haircut now they have finished fruiting
Found a bit of trellis for a cucumber plant that has decided not to die after all!
I have taken HM Thai chicken curry out of the freezer for dinnerJust had to heat it up and boil some rice to go with it
Ordered a replacement power lead for our electric cool box whose lead had got damaged.0 -
Quick list as I want to get on:
Return library books
Make birthday cards
PAD
Change standing order to bills account
Home educate children for free
Make bread
Make porridge
Stick to meal plan
B/L/D from stores
Dry washing outside, fingers crossed the weather holds
Pmp etc
I'll hopefully hear back from the garage regarding my car as it has gone in for its MOTFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
Morning all,
BB I hope all goes well with the MOT!
I've not really got a list today, its going to be a pottering around day, generally tidying up the left over destruction from my decluttering week!
I have one large bag to go to the charity shop (will have a walk round the house before taking it in case I spot anything I've missed!)
2 loads of washing are out on the line to dry
1 load is dh's work shirts which will need ironing later, the rest will just be hung straight away.
The dishwasher is running on the quick wash
I need to check banking/update cashbook etc
Out to ds2s school leavers party tonight at a local trampoline park, hes all paid for but I'll take a bit of cash with me as its somewhere I've not been before. I'm looking forward to spending a couple of hours chatting with other parents. Also getting a lift there with my friend so no car costs. (we take it in turns giving lifts so its fair!)
Leftovers for tea
Dh is working from home so another car saving.
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

I've had a positive PPI check result. I thought I had it on a very small loan about 20 years ago. Hopefully that will give me a few £ (I can't imagine it will be much). The bank are automatically raising a complaint against themselves after they found I did have PPI so honestly if you have had any loans it takes 5 minutes to pop in a few basic details on the bank/credit card co websites and they take it all from there. No need to use a claims company from what I can see as I didn't have the loan details but they only needed things like my name and address, stuff I do know
Got more selling going on of old stuff. Won't last forever but I think the last 2 months I have sold things for about £145, which is pretty good for things we were no longer using.
Other than that it is laundry on the line (but I don't own a tumble dryer so it can only dry on the rack or the line), clean out the car for sale (saving money on the local car wash and hoover guys by cleaning it myself) and then get ready to have a bit of a weekend break. DH is really pleased with my car washing as he thought it was discoloured on one area but I managed to clean the funny colour off the paintwork
It isn't perfect but for a very old car she is looking a lot better.

hey guys
got to the end of the working week. It hasn't been too bad this week!
katsu I don't own a tumble dryer and never had - I still like to put it as something small I do. I suspect seeing as I've got through almost 30 years as an adult with a home and kids without one I'll never get one now. Hurrah for expensive things we don't need!
smalls are very small today!
* updated expenses with last 2 weeks of mileage - easily slips away from you in my job if you don't keep it up to date daily/weekly
* all meals from stores
* had a couple of free snackajacks in the workplace
that's all! Having a lovely glass of something bubbly - bliss I haven't had any drinks for a couple of weeks due to dental issues/medicationand I don't want to count my chickens but right now, and for the last 5 or 6 hours I haven't had any painkillers and I am no longer in pain :T
