Thinking of you and your family CLF xx
Pleased to hear that a good time was had on holiday Ziggy and Ditty
OH and I have been cleaning and tidying up today - much needed! OH vacuumed and I tidied and got rid of junk that had been accumulating, then we began a sort out of the yard / patio which is also messy. Come to a bit of a full stop now
Other things:
Nothing spent today :T
Gave sink and worktops a good clean
Made a frittata for dinner, using up various fridge and garden oddmentsThere is plenty left for another meal too, it is just as nice cold as hot.
Gave strawberry pots and hanging baskets a haircut and cut off unwanted runners, as they have finished fruiting now. Still have a large trough and a wall basket to tackle. Decided to leave the trough for a bit as there might be a few more berries. Haven't looked in detail at the wall basket yet!
Pulled out a few poppies that have finished flowering
Cut a few salad leaves for tonight's salad - they are a bit tough and bitter now, and I have composted the plants from this tub.
Pulled some spring onions
Just been upstairs to begin to tidy the spare room, which is like a disaster area with kids toys and my sales stock all over the place
More work needed both here and in the garden!
Also more tidying / decluttering needed, I will catch up!
Had good news this morning, my histology results were all good, and I won't be needing further treatment or surgery :T0 -
Morning
Dawn you don't seem to be taking it easy....
I did nothing from my list yesterday! I felt so retched, no energy whatsoever. I laid on the sofa until lunchtime, then went to bed until this morningFeeling a bit better now, think it's the effect of tking so much pain relief for so long...
Today I need to take it fairly easy, although hopefully not as easy as yesterday!
Today I will:
* load of washing & line dry
* make batch of chilli for work lunches
* drop something to cs and get petrol/check tyre pressure
* sewing
* maybe do some house work
* maybe go for run - I really want to but don't know if I can. Will see how the day pans out...
* madam's sports day this afternoonDF as at 30/12/16

Hey folks
DNMS - I hope you feel better today x
Dawn - excellent news on your results!
I'm taking a bit of time for myself here. It's my "Saturday" and OH is sleeping so I'm just pottering and sorting bits. It never rains but it pours... OH has twinged his neck/shoulder in the gym yesterday so didn't sleep well all night. He forgot that he could potentially take painkillers the silly muppet!
He's been haring around sorting things for the funeral and has been forgetting to eat and drink - apparently he didn't drink anything yesterday
Luckily I am off now to keep an eye on him. I have dosed him up with ibuprofen and hopefully he'll sleep a bit more now while I tidy the house and make a meal plan.
Today we have to go and sort the flowers and pay the deposit for the funeral. Weirdly (all thanks to your guys and MSE) OH and I are the only ones in the family with any money in the bank so we are paying for everything until FIL's life ins payment comes through. This is ok but most of it is in an ISA so I used MSE to apply for a 0% purchases cc. I'm hoping this will arrive before we pay the balance.
I need some advice from you lovely lot. On the day of the funeral I'm not sure what to make for dinner. I want something I can prep ahead in large portions, dump into the SC and leave. Then freeze any leftovers. But it's summer and warm so stew seems out of the question. Help!

Dawn so glad you don't have to ave anymore treatment
CLF what about something with chicken in the SC, always seems lighter in the summer. Chickpeas, chopped tomatoes, cumin that sort of Middle Eastern type thing. Chicken on the bone will be really tender too and fall off the bone.
My list for today:
Check banking, update sheet
Check utilities bill :T
Meeting today, so a drive in another direction which is nice. Lunch provided. Even nicer :T
Do some tidying/ organising later of the house. It's getting out of hand
Peg 2 loads of washing out I've washed this morning
Get something out of freezer for tea, need to use a courgette, half a head of broccoli in it
Will wipe out fridge as it's practically empty. Triage whilst there and see if I need to freeze/ gift anything
Walk later with pal
Have a good day everyone. Purps.0 -
CLF - In the 'I (heart) my slow cooker' book (my fave SC book), there's a chilli recipe, but using turkey mince, sweet potato & sweetcorn. It is more summery than beef chillies, I always think.
Hope all the arrangements go as well as possible. Yes, so so much to do, as sadly I know from recent experience. Thinking of you x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Morning all,
On today's list:
*Listen to more of the 'Slow Home' podcast.
*Bake a sourdough loaf.
*Bake bread rolls & a pizza base.
*Check & water veggies.
*Pick salad.
*Declutter 11 items.
*Sort laundry & iron as little as possible.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Deal with grocery delivery & update July's grocery budget tracker sheet.
*Knit sock.
*Find a space for gifted plant from my friend.
And I do want this afternoon for a research project I'm doing, so must crack on.
Oh, & Mr F won £35, which arrived last night. You'd think he'd won the Euro millions, the way he went on about it, lol.
Take care all.... Dawn, are you sure you're taking it easy? Also thinking of HK.

Dawn pleased to hear you don't need any further treatment.
CLF I was going to suggest a bean chilli.

CLF, I hope the arrangements go as well as they can. The only other meal I could suggest would be a spag bol.
Dawn, great news that no more treatment is needed.
HK, hope the op went well.
Dnms, Hope you're feeling brighter today.
CCL, I bet you're ready for the holidays!
Ziggy, glad you enjoyed your holiday
Hope everyone else is doing well.
I didn't get chance to post yesterday as we were busy with school stuff for ds2 until 8pm then it was home, put feet up and snooze!
Todays list
# usual ys bread/eggs for breakfasts
# ds2 to free school breakfast club
# ds2 had forgotten his bag so he's taken ds1's packed lunch and I've had to give ds1 money for the school canteen (he only has this once a week usually and had it yesterday so todays money will be instead of money one day next week so no effect on my budget at least! and ds2's packed lunch will do for tomorrow now instead)
# gym done and refilled water bottle twice whilst there
# checked banking/ updated spreadsheet / moved some money into a new account that had finally been opened with a better interest rate
# dropped several bags to the charity shop from my recent decluttering and have started another bag already which is nearly full!
# added the unwanted toiletries to the food bank box at the supermarket
# cooking a gammon joint in my convection microwave - only takes 24 minutes and is much better value and taste in the families sandwiches then sliced meat from the sm that we used to buy.
# washed a load on the quick 30 degree wash and hung out (having to keep an eye on it though as it feels like its going to rain)
To do
## make a spag bol sauce, maybe for tonight or maybe for the freezer as I have food leftover for the ds's and I but dh might end up eating at a works bbq, depends on how he's feeling later.
## I've got a couple of surveys that are annual ones to do, worth doing as we get £40 in vouchers for them. Would like to tick that off my "to do" list!
## make families lunches for tomorrow
## continue decluttering anything thats in one place for too long
## measure our dining table as its got a wipeable cloth on it at the minute which has caught in a few places, going to try and get a reasonably priced fabric table cloth next as this wipeable hasn't lasted as long as I'd have liked.
Thats it for now. Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
