For those who want to get a mobile phone to receive text message as part of Strong Customer Authentication.
Here is an example where you could get it for £10.
For This you already get £10 credit on the simcard ready to use.
So the Handset itself is literally free.

This is a new Handset, so the battery must still be good in holding charge.0 -
Looks like you only get the use of the handset when you first topup a Tenner and from then on it is £10 every thirty days unless I am reading things wrong. .
I haven't looked at that particular deal but I got a £10 phone some time ago & as long as I make a call or send a text every few months it keeps going. I top up £10 about every 18 months or so.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -

In the past I have seen it was available £1.99 without top-up but no longer available for a long time and it is a different handset as far as I remember. Also as far as I remember it was locked to particular network.

In this offer indeed you will not be able to avoid the top-up. I mentioned it clearly on my previous post.

My post is intended to help those who might think having a mobile phone is expensive more expensive than having a home phone and this handset is ideal as it is only £10 including £10 top up and it is most probably unlocked. For the best simcard for PAYG there is already a special thread about this if you search it. For instance, O2 and 1p mobile have been named among the best PAYG for occasional usage.

As Most of CPW phones (if not all) are unlocked. So people could easily change the simcard to other networks 0 -
I remember years ago I had an Orange PAYG and any leftover credit each month was lost but then they changed that arrangement and it could be rolled over to tyhe next month but I dont know if anything similar is available now. I had a Giff Gaff SIM but gave that up as I was paying for something I never used .EssexExile wrote: »I haven't looked at that particular deal but I got a £10 phone some time ago & as long as I make a call or send a text every few months it keeps going. As per my previous post try 1p mobile you only need to topup £10 every 120 days minute, text, data is rolled over each time you top up £10. Also the price for 1m call/text/per MB data is just 1p
Another alternative is O2 ot three PAYG but this one is 3/2/1p0 -

Not sure what you mean by this.
Husband & I both have giffgaff SIMs and use mostly PAYG.
A top up of airtime credit (as opposed to buying a 30 day goodybag:cool:) never runs out as long as you make one chargeable call/text every 6 months.
Minimum top up is £10 but that lasts us ages - especially as each topup gets us free giffgaff to giffgaff calls & texts for 3 months:)0 -
I already posted this.
Yes, at virtually the same time as I did, it took me a little longer as I actually went and found the link for the answer.
And you did not notice that this is a newbie first post, so try to be nice.
Two things, (1) there’s nothing not nice about my post and (2) no one made you the forum police, please don’t try and post off topic comments in a manner to cause an argument, it’s against the rules.====0 -

I was paying ( I think) £5 a month ...they did call it a Goodybag ...but I never used it so it was a waste of money ..I ust wanted it as a backup in a dispensible phone (or when I am away fishing and wandering around a river so can afford to lose it ) as I already have a sim only deal with BT which I do use .
I wasn't aware GiffGaff had other means that probably would have suited me better .0 -

I left the OP to find the link for themselves.I obviously found the link because I quoted the same quote as you, word for word.
I apologise if I upset you, it just seemed that your post came across as passive aggressive. But as you have stated this is clearly not the case, so please accept my apologies. I wasn't aware that I was trying to start an argument. I know I wasn't, but if it seemed that way to you, then sorry.
As far as I am concerned, this is the end of the matter.0
