I recently purchased an item on eBay for £120 plus £4 postage.
I have been talking to the seller who has been very helpful, it seems he posted it first class tracked - he didn’t know he did this until this evening when he went to the post office. Anyway the item says delivered with no signature on the Royal Mail website. There is no tracking just a green tick this says delivered.
I’ve checked garden, bins etc and no sign. I’ve been down to local depot (this was before I received the tracking number) and they just said if it was left anywhere or came back to depot I’d have had a card left.
Where do I stand with this. It’s making me feel sick. I’ve looked into it and seems that as it states it’s delivered I’ve lost my £120!
I’ve looked into a chargeback and in theory I could still lose that. I really don’t know what’s happened to this item and what to do next.
Paypal have said I can’t do anything until Friday and eBay have said tomorrow. But ultimately I’m not waiting for it to be delivered because it apparently has!

It's important to know that a complaint / claim can be raised with Royal Mail by phoning them regardless of the status of a signed for or tracked item and they will investigate. I would suggest that in addition to that, you speak to your actual post man / woman, plus also try to keep the seller on side throughout.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Ask the seller to dispute the delivery with RM. Do some basic checks including asking the seller to confirm the address it went to, check with neighbours.
You can report the issue to your local delivery office, give them the parcel tracking info.0 -

Best bet if it's not far away is to go there is person and ask then to check the GPS coordinates of the delivery scan, this will tell you pretty much where the postman was when the parcel was marked as delivered.
This info is only held for 7 days after delivery is recorded. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
I know of no service called 1st class tracked.
The service you may refer to is Royal Mail Signed For (1st or 2nd class).
This 100% requires a signature which will be on the scanner.
There is also Royal Mail 24 Tracked which requires NO signature.
Sounds like he used that.

I can 100% guarantee you that it was sent via Royal Mail 1st small parcels which isn’t tracked until delivery. I spoke to royal mail today who confirmed this.
Paypal decided in sellers favour, I’ve appealed and reported to action fraud as well as Royal Mail.0 -

In the OP it says that sender didn't realise item was sent with any tracking, so,it sound s like a standard parcel as has already been confirmed. Although why any seller would use that service for an expensive item I have no idea.redditrabbit wrote: »I can 100% guarantee you that it was sent via Royal Mail 1st small parcels which isn’t tracked until delivery. Speak to your local RM office. Get them to check the GPS/user on the parcel0 -
Ok so I contacted Royal Mail and raised a complaint. It takes 10 days apparently, although the local DO Manager has three days to reply to them.
I have advised PayPal and seller I will go all the way with this. I have contacted the police for advice, reported it to Action Fraud and spoke to my bank. Due to this the seller won’t speak to me anymore (I have asked for a copy of the receipt and now he’s on holiday apparently). He is saying that he won’t speak to me anymore because he’s been advised not to because of threats of legal proceedings (not by me??) and the threat of going to the police.
Well blow me sideways but does he blame me? He’s ok, he has his money, I’m just supposed to sit here and accept it?!0 -
Interesting to read this as I was just looking on Ebay and a (much smaller item) I ordered has not turned up but Ebay says 'delivered' the next day! yet the number put into RM tracking says "Item is on it's way to the International Logistics Centre, SL3 8AQ"
Which is weird in itself, how can Ebay known more than RM?
Its a Chinese seller with a supposed UK dispatch, I suspect the tracking was fake or 'borrowed' to satisfy Ebay and its really being sent from China
Not sure what to do next.0 -
I use don’t think there is a way in which I can win this case. Everything says delivered. Paypal won’t pay out because it’s delivered and if I do a chargeback, he provides a tracking number which states delivered they’ll close it and take the money back off me0
