Happy Birthday SS!Totally agree, I retired at 55 ( 60 next year ) and I love it! DH retired at 60.Our lives are a bit different from yours though, we look after our grandaughter one way or another 4 days a week and it’s the best job I ever had!We do get a lot of free time though, some days we just pick her up from nursery, but the freedom from work is exhilarating! ( and I loved my job as an NHS nurse, but I like not working better!)2

Congratulations.
My 6 0 was in the midst of lockdown so no chance of a disappointing pub meal but an opportunity to taste ‘interesting’ celebration home baked cakes!
Still working p/t as OH enjoying her work and being househusband (4 children either at home or Uni). More time to practice for retirement as 3 now drive (and will taxi the 4th) and quite independent. Time to expand hobbies.4 -

How did that happen.
Anyway, I kept it on the down low. No big party or do. Some lovely cards, flowers and other gifts, including an obligatory mug.
Unfortunately the pub we went to for a meal (food was lovely in the summer - that's why we went back), wasn't very nice, and quite disappointing. We'd have been better getting a "Dine-in with M&S" meal, and a bottle of wine TBH.
Anyway, being early retired is the best gift you can give yourself!! Why celebrate on any given day, just because the calendar tells you too...everyday is a celebration!!
Roll on the next 50!!!
Mrs XPS recently went through that milestone, much to her annoyance.
You are right that the flexibility you have with FI is the best gift. And one that keeps giving. Hard to wrap though.2 -
Welcome to the best decade 🎉🎂🔥🚒🍾🥂😎👍
Although I noticed that injuries, aches & pains all occur more frequently and take longer to mend 😳Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!2 -
Happy birthday Sea Shell. A great age to be retired by, old enough to appreciate it and young enough (and healthy enough) to enjoy it.Money SPENDING Expert1
