NST A Gentle Jog Through July

crazy_cat_lady wrote: »Gosh I am tired.
I've finally, definitely finished this season of marking - no more left to do and nothing much to worry about - just waiting for the cash.
However, I've stopped being constantly on the go and now realise I'm just shattered. Absolutely shattered. I can barely keep my eyes open at school, then can't be bothered with anything at home. Better start being bothered because I go on holiday in a couple of days and we still haven't quite finished the packing.
But I am making a start on stuff. I picked up my crochet for the first time in weeks (Christmas is closer than we think you know), am finally catching up on here, did a fridge and cupboard audit (genuinely shouldn't need to shop for myself for weeks) and have started decluttering stuff that has built up round the house. Need to get the frog list back out and do stuff on there...
I wondered whether to bring it in as part of the challenge but decided that those making hm gifts would be aware that they needed to be getting on with it. Also wondered about mentioning it as part of the holiday ideas eg bringing back things to use in crafts with children or as gifts - so many pine cones last week but I left them in the end or shells to put round picture frames. Or foraging (lots of crab apples about). I know quite a few of you do jam making (not going to mention c-u-ney) or sloe gin type things (I've been looking at edible hedging again).
I only left it out because of the groans (and Father Christmas having to shoot an elf every time someone mentions the C- word before November).
I know 100 days is sometime in September which is when I used to start my countdown - but I started with painting any bits of the house that needed sorting, once the children had gone back to school (we had a 2 week break in September having only finished the summer holidays on Bank Holiday Monday). This has included making up a child's bucket of paste and replacing ripped patches of wallpaper. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Hi all
Long day at self employment role #2 and doing the follow on work this evening. Got a free lunch too!
Did a small shop in Mr C but only stuff we'd run out of. Walked the long way round to get some steps in after a day sat in a meeting.
Ordered more contact lenses for DD2.
Gratitudes - nice chat with colleague at self employment role; free lunch; both DDs had a good day; early night zzzzzzzz
Nite everyone

I usually start thinking about the festive season (see what I did there) a couple of weeks after the kids go back, my kids have December and January (very early Jan) birthdays so I have to be organised.
Work today - kill me now please. I am currently coming up with very inventive ways to get out of it. I applied for some jobs yesterday but the most annoying thing is application forms - they take forever and then if you don't get an interview it is such a waste of time, it would be much better if they looked at your cv and if they want to invite you for interview you fill the application form in beforehand.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Why wait until December when there is so much to celebrate in July. No need to participate but these may spark a few more ideas to put in your holiday calendar.
Forgot to mention (or was away)
July 8 International Town Criers Day (you could watch 24 hour Party People)
July 11 Slurpee day (think that's a slushie to us)
July 11 World population Day (a time to advocate for universal access to reproductive health)
July 13 French Fries Day
July 14 national Nude Day (check local bylaws but I've been observing this in the privacy of my room to help get through the heat)
July 14 Bastille Day (vive la France)
and of course July 2 was 'I forgot' Day'
Only a day late so today i will be celebrating Yellow Pig Day (July 17)
The figment of two mathematicians imaginations in the 1960s, the 17 eyelashed yellow pig celebrates the fascinating properties of the number 17. Janis Ian anyone?
Still to come
July 19 National Flitch Day of Dunmore fame (watch the film?)
July 22 Doonerism Spay birthday of the Rev William Archibald Spooner in 1844 (2 Ronnies?)
July 26 National talk in an Elevator Day? participation is optional.
July 27 Bagpipe appreciation Day (watch The Departed, either the Leonardo Dicaprio version or the Japanese original - if your children are old enough, you could all try learning a new language in the holidays)
July 29 National lasagne Day (or lasagna for Americans)
suggestions include Garfield comics, eating Italian (hm of course)

I'm back!
Visitors gone, NSD 6 bagged. Lots of walking and discovered a local green space I had never visited and it is great - Aylestone Meadows Nature Reserve - 5 minutes from my house and thekids loved it, and it tired the OAPs out so they were quite passive once fed tea and biscuits afterwards. Now I want to explore the canal network far and wide - I could well get myself into very cheap trouble like this. So I have donned my pith helmet and am ready to explore the Le'Shire wilds.
I have 4 days of emails to sort through and all the banking, but it is the first 'proper' day of the school holidays now.
The kids object to me celebrating nudity day. Prudes.

Morning
One more get up - I can almost see the summer holidays through my tired eyes. I'm literally aching everywhere (best not be getting sick right before my holiday) but so looking forward to tomorrow.
Last night we all got our bags packed ready to jet off tomorrow, then more crochet - but last night's crochet was a baby blanket for someone at work. Also remembered to put my gifted gooseberries into the freezer for preserve making once I'm back from my hols (more gifts coming up there).
Got into work today and have been gifted a bottle of wine from my head of year, and 4 cans of G&T from a colleague because I covered a class the other day for him. It's nice to be appreciated for sure.
Plans for the day are survival at work, more crafting, final bits of packing and an early night.
F0xh0les - pleased that you survived and can now get on and start enjoying the summer
Hope you survive work dolly...Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
