In the store near me, they have a reduced to clear section of ambient goods - discontinued lines. Spotted some gherkins and saw the date on them was late December 2018. First visit I reported the matter to CSD. Two days later, I saw the gherkins there unmoved and saw a manager on the shop floor and said he would look at them later. Three days later, the same gherkins are still there. Phoned the customer service number to report this.
How many times does Asda need be told about this? The store assistant that moved the gherkins from the pickles section should have looked at the date to begin with.

If it's a Best Before date, there isn't a problem.
Pickled gherkins would still be edible for years after that date - the quality may be affected but that's all.0 -
Surely they are in the clearance section for that very reason, what's the problem? They are pickled so not likely to go mouldy or stale like fresh or chilled items are they?
Depending on the discounted price I'd have no problem buying & eating themEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

You need to realise that there is no wrong doing in selling goods beyond their Best Before date. Perfectly legal practice.0 -

Me and many others if the price is right. They are doing nothing wrong and you repeatedly nagging them is just ridiculous.0 -
I bought some very out of date pickles many years ago because they were cheap. I wanted the jars for storage and it was cheaper to buy the jars with pickles in than empty jars.

Best before not use by so no problem at all, why do you think companies like approved foods do so well and all they sell is food past it’s best before.

I bought sausages yesterday from Lidl Supermarket. They were use by the previous day.
They got missed by the assistant and then missed by myself I still cooked them on the BBQ. They tasted great
Now I could have gone back, or took to Twitter or called them. But I didn't. Cause I can't be doing with hassle of something I class as trivial.
I won't make the same mistake again.
