Credit score and mortgage

Being new to the forum I don't know if or now to use "quotes" or if you're allowed to mention any other company who are not deemed to be involved, I only added them on request so members could get a better idea in your search to help/advice, again I didn't think I needed to add the CR name in full as it was only to show the reason the other company would not help in setting up any morgage request, that CR was just the one on their criteria list.
I now know by working out a couple of posts here, there must be two other Credit Report sites (CRA's), but the person from co-ownership said they only deal with the one mentioned on their web, and if I had any "default accounts" they would not pass their inspection (or words to that effect)
One other company offered a principle figure of £70,000 on a £20,000 deposit, based on my income etc, but once a check was done, they revised it to £58,000 on a £32,000 deposit (once again on the credit score).
But because of the advice/help here I have managed to find the debt company and cleared it.
Now back to the main problem:
All I need now is contact the PO on the website I was given, and ask for a couple of monthly bills around the time of this problem hopefully only showing the line rental and anytime calls during that time period, I was unawere until this thread started that they didn't need to fix the problem, as I would not have been charged for that, pity I didn't know this before they took over my contract.
I alway wondered why you can get broadband with out line rental (must be for companies like this  )0 -

You can't, unless you're talking about mobile or maybe satellite.
Suppliers were required some time ago by OFCOM to include the line rental in the overall price so consumers could reliably compare broadband prices. The packages all still include line rental.0 -
Thanks, so I would simply have a so-call contact with no working broadband which I couldn't get out off to avoid paying the £289.0

Not sure where you got that idea from. If your broadband isn't working tell your supplier to fix it. If they give you the runaround, escalate to a complaint. If they fail to fix it after an official complaint is lodged take it to the ombudsman.
But migrating out to a new provider when you're still in a contract is just asking for trouble.0 -
Didn't know anything about escalate to a complaint or complaining to ombudsman. I just thought if the provider couldn't fix the problem I need move to another company.

Did you ask?
Confirm their complaints process?
Do your own research?
There’s lots of ifs, buts and maybes here overall.
I think you just have to accept that what’s done is done and move on0 -
No I didn't do any of the things you have posted, through everyones help/advice here, I worked it all out.
I now know to look or ask in the future for a contract.accept and time to move on.
Thanks again everyone for helping to resolve this issue for me :T0 -

Do you understand that you haven’t solved your problem at all? If anything, by paying the debt you’ve now lost any bargaining power to get the default removed.
These are the facts:
1. The default will not be removed after 1 year.
2. The default will remain on your files for the next 6 years.
3. If you still want to apply for a mortgage, you will need to speak to a specialist mortgage broker who deals in adverse credit.
4. There are 3 credit reference agencies in the UK: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Mortgage lenders can choose to search 1, 2 or all 3 when you make an application and you won’t know who they use until after they’ve hard searched you.
5. You should check your credit reports via the free online portals of the above to see if the default shows on the other 2 files:

I've never had debt in my life (that I knew of), so clearing this debt will give me and my family peace of mind.
I am in talks (email) with a morgage adviser company (if that is their proper title) over the last two days, who deal in bad credit, and hopefully they might help, if not I'll keep saving for a higher deposit to counteract the shortfall in the loan I'm looking.
The first link seems to put me back into (experian) the CR that shows the "default".
The second link (clearscore) didn't seem to show anything about this debt, but on the joson file it has a code with I googled and it leads back to the morgage adviser company above.
The third link you posted keeps showing "We are unable to verify your identity" (3 moves in 3 years in private housing might be behind that) but I'll keep trying.
I'd post back any major progress good or bad as I go along, I have set my target of six months to have a dream home for my wife and granddaughter to enjoy.
All the help/advice by the forum members like yourself have been top marks. :T
Thanks again0 -
Update: Default problem resolved last Friday, after weeks of emailing between PO LTD TELECOMS, Experian and myself, the matter has now been resolved and "default" removed from my record, jumping my "Very poor" (508 points) to "Excellent" (965 points) allowing my mortgage broker to do a Valuation tomorrow, hopefully this will be the first stage over, fingers crossed.
Thanks again
