Morning everyone
Just had a catch up.
DawnW glad to hear the surgery went okay. I hope you are behaving ur self and not overdoing it (I'm a fine one to talk!!)
I'm back and forth to the docs dropping samples in for extra pre op monitoring as they are operating with infection. I go in a week on Monday. I'm very cranky at the minute as once this starts it will be a long process but I don't have a choice unfortunately.
1LL belated birthday wishes. Sounds like it was a busy day. Mine was on Monday the same as Deni DD1. I had a quiet day but DD had pre booked to go for a meal and I was spoilt. Still have a happy birthday balloon floating in the kitchen
Welcome to the newbies, it is a brilliant thread that keeps me on the straight and narrow.
Seem to just be spending money at the minute, have had to buy a strimmer and an extra fan (used a discount code for this)
Also need to sort out another vacuum.....again
I have paperwork to finish off. Have been tying up lots of loose ends and spending time dodging the paperwork. Just about to start a piece that needed to be completed a few days ago.
I have been happily doing my Christmas charity shoeboxes. I'm conscious I will struggle to do these after, had lots left over from last year and they have been a welcome distraction
Have picked up some cracking bargains in the Arg@s clearance to pop away for presents.used some of my RM vouchers for these
Have been trying to do some decluttering but don't seem to be getting very far.
Weather has been very very hot but cooler and very overcast today. Have been getting alot of washing dry outside.
Eating out of cupboards and freezer. DD will go out to Tesc@ of an evening and has picked up some great YS veg cheap. Have been making the most of this.
Sorted out fridge yesterday. *hangs head in shame* I did have to throw away some items.
Need to pop to Tesc@ today for a few bits-will stick to my list.
Kept my spends book up to date and banking checked everyday
Can't think of anything else for now.
Have a great day everyoneDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Morning everyone
I've been doing loads of washing and line drying, still ploughing through DD2's uni stuff as I missed a large bag of laundry when I unpacked my car! Had a spendy day on Thursday as car in for repair - cost £175 which I suppose isn't too expensive for a garage bill. I charged my phone up in work yesterday. Also took loads of personal shredding to put in the big work shredder over lunch. Been eating from stores. Today need to do some of my self employment role and do some tidying. Make something healthy for tea. DD1 got loads of birthday sweets and choccys so DD2 and I are helping her get through them
Have a good day everyone

Hi everyone
I've worked through July's budget, now we're down over £2k a month... We've got enough to cover our immediate expenses but can't top up any categories for upcoming spends later in the year - we've got over £6k saved but I am like a crazy lady trying not to dip into savings, but I think we'll probably need to each month (I did save it for mat leave so I shouldn't feel bad about this... :rotfl: ) Wish us luck!
Batch cooked chicken yesterday - going to use leftover chicken for HM pizzas later.
Hung washing up on this gorgeous day.
Printed off postage for stuff I sold and may walk to the post box later - bit of free exercise and all that.
Got some free samples of shampoo and conditioner to use up.
Going to bake bread and make pizza dough later
Tidy/clean round - I use a cloth I crocheted - has lasted forever!!
Have fun out there everyone! :cool:0 -

Lol HK, I haven't beenand am a bit the worse for wear. I am so bored though, and just want to do things! OH is quite good, but I have to tell him every little thing - he doesn't offer to do anything much, and there is a bit of eye rolling too :rotfl:
Got up really early this morning - before 5am - as my tummy hurt. I took some painkillers, had a bit of breakfast because I was hungry, and went back to bed for a few hours! It is really hot today, and I am staying indoors where it is relatively cool (old houses really come into their own in hot weather, even if not so good in the winter). Haven't done anything muchapart from clean up the kitchen a bit and clean the bbq (a small one whose parts fit into my big white sink). That is something useful at least, as the BBQ has been sat outside the back door since we came back from a festival at the end of last month.I will reassemble it and put it away when it is dry.
Hope you get your surgery soon, as having ages to think about it doesn't helpI really hope you recover from it quickly and it makes a big difference to you. Mine was much more minor (and hopefully the results will be too) than yours sounds, and all went well this time so no lengthy hospital stays! I am just missing a few more internal workings :rotfl:

Didn't post yesterday - it was the last day of term and after a very stressful run up to it, I just came home and spent the afternoon reading my book.
Today so far I have:
Babysat my 2 nieces while their Mum gets her hair cut/coloured. As agreed they did some chores round the garden for me in return for some spending money for their holidays. Not so frugal but I would have given them the money anyhow and they did really well.
More frugal efforts:
1. No plans to leave the house today so no car use
2. HM lunch made for niece and my sis
3. HM Choc cheesecake made
4. Budget done for July and actioned
5. Once nieces leave do a quick tidy of the house
6. Send the afternoon reading again. I am working my way through a series of 15 books. Just about to start book 3.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend.0 -
Afternoon all,
HK, sounds like you had a great birthday too. Not long til your op now, hoping everything goes well for you.
Today's been a nice day, we've been into town but had breakfast at home before we went out. In the spendy years we'd have probably had breakfast and lunch in town and spent a fortune. Ds1 had a planned spend in CEX, he'd researched prices and looked at the options before going and had decided to buy the game he wanted 2nd hand rather then new.
Dh went to the opticians and has bought a pair of reading glasses from the £25 range rather then a designer pair that they were saying really suited him, he just wanted these glasses for reading on a night in bed instead of his varifocals so no need to spend a lot on them!
Then onto my parents for my belated birthday lunch, it was nice to have a catch up and the lasagne was lovely. On the way home we popped into the co-0p and got some ys bread (rarely pay full price for bread these days!)
Came home and had a little afternoon nap. Shortly be time for a pick and mix tea outside in the garden, we can have whatever we fancy from the cupboard/fridge/freezer so long as we help cook it.
Thats about it apart from a film from our stash to watch with the kids.
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi June Jollies,
Getting ready for a long 'weekend'. We are going to head (even further) North for a night tomorrow hoping to see Sea Eagles.
Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Five:
* Check online banking. Done.
* Continue my Challenge 500 miles challenge to travel 500 miles for free before the end of 2019: walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, running and swimming. I'm up to 247/500. Done. Nearly halfway there! :T
* Clear out In Tray. Done.
* Clear out wallet. Done.
* Clear emails. Done.
* Accommodation was almost the cheapest AirBnB had to offer but it has a kettle and a microwave which we intend to use to self cater. We will take a flask and coffee making supplies and buy snacks from the supermarket.
* Our only holiday entertainment expense will be a bit of sailing which is going to cost us £24 each.
* Taking my car which uses the least fuel.
* We put cardboard between our bed base and mattress to make the mattress feel harder. Replaced cardboard with boxes from local shops.
* Taking our usual 'emergency kit' of paracetamol etc to ensure that whatever happens we don't buy pharmaceuticals that we already have a home.
