Morning all
It was DD1's birthday on Monday and she decided she wanted a buffet at home rather than a meal outSo I bought food and she made a contribution - it was really nice and MSE too !
I've got my car in the garage and it won't be fixed till tomorrow so i'm hoping for a courtesy car to do a few tasks and go into work this afternoon.
So it's racking up to be a spendy week ….
I did charge my laptop in work yesterday so that's a small victory!
I have washing on the line today.
Dawn - hope you make a speedy recovery but rest if you need to
La E - you sound very productive when you've got a small baby and having disturbed nights! Hope you are enjoying being a mum
love to all

Good afternoon all,
Lovely to "see" you back DawnNice to catch up with everyones news with a quick cuppa.
Todays list from me
* usual breakfasts ys bread/breakfast club etc
* gym done and refilled water bottle there twice
* met friend for our monthly coffee and catch up - brilliant therapy and all for the price of a pot of tea.
* whilst out also
- popped into mr T for some orange squash as the kids aren't keen on the aldee version
- aldee for my normal shop
- home bargains for a couple of bits we needed
- and b&m to see if they had any garden pots I'd like as several of my terracotta ones we've had for years and years have broken and started falling to bits, nothing I liked in B&m so will try the Range another day
* bought a bottle of wine for the school summer fayre hamper (I usually have a bottle that dh comes home from work with at xmas time but not this time as he finished work with annual leave before the bottles were shared out!! that was an error)
Still to do
* iron a few shirts for dh
* run the dishwasher on the quick wash its on and empty
* check banking/ update spreadsheet and pay for ds2s guitar lesson
* put the shopping away - this should be top of the list!! I don't know why I dislike this job so much!! done
* prep salad for tonights meal as we have a busy night and will all be eating at different times by the look of it!
* general tidy round and continue decluttering where I can.
* wash a little load on the extra quick 14 min wash in now and hang on the line done
Thats it for now, take care all
Put away a rm gift voucher thats come in the post, will use on the next lot of ice cream I get from icyland
Bought spinach today but looks quite wet in the bag, so I've tipped it out onto some kitchen paper and will let it dry off a little before putting in a big Tupperware lined with kitchen paper as this keeps it better a lot longer then the best by date
Out in the garden to put chopped up banana skins around the base of our roses as its meant to help them flower
Used a spare rm envelope to post a book back to my mil and used a free stamp too.
Messaged a friend to see if she wanted the unused address labels from rm surveys, I've got loads of them and probably only use about 10 a year! I've done quite a few of the rm surveys over the years so have loads, will package them up and drop them off to her (love a bit of decluttering that helps a friend too!)Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Like 1LL my RM gift voucher arrived in the post today. I currently have no plans to spend mine. I have £10's worth in stock. Last year I used them to buy ds a pair of shoes from go outdoors, some bathroom accessories and a large Lego set from Argos.

Both children to 2 lots of training, took snacks and water
Topped up water bottles at both sets of training
Treated myself and the children to lunch out, used 50% off voucher - this was a planned & budgeted treat
PAD

Hi folks, delurking to ask if I can join you. I am now debt free, thanks to the various strategies I have learned here on MSE, and working towards saving for retirement (hopefully early, I don't want to be working until 68:eek: or longer).
Having done all the big stuff early on, I am aware that it's the small everyday choices that make the difference and I am aware there is a bit of lifestyle creep happening which I want to reel in.
Today's plans:
1. Bedding put into washing machine before work and OH tasked with hanging it out once it's finished.
2. Also wash clothing and hang outside. Weather today is stunning.
2. Take HM lunch to work.
3. Have HM dinner at home. Been having too many takeaways and it's time to change this.
I am about to finish work for the summer holiday (I'm a teacher) and I need to plan ahead to make sure it's not a spendy summer - this is a time where I can blow the budget. Myself and OH are not going away this summer but are planning various day trips. I am hoping to make many of the day trips low cost or free if we take a picnic etc. I have set us a budget for the summer and am determined not to go over it. Posting in this thread will help keep me focused and accountable.0 -
Morning all and welcome Allie23
Its a great thread, hope you stick with us.
I'm only putting up a small list today as I've been instructed by dh that today I've got to be a lady of leisure as its my birthday.
* usual breakfasts arrangements, eggs on ys bread for ds1 and ds2 to free school breakfast club
* called into the school to give them some spare envelopes that come with the rm surveys (I don't get why they send everything in the plain big white envelope to be honest!) but the school may as well have them as like the labels I mentioned yesterday I have plenty. Handed in raffle contribution, raffle money, little gift from the kids for the secretary and head (they've both been brilliant particularly with ds2s health issues just got them a £5 costa coffee card discounted through dh's works perk site) little envelopes with contributions to two staff members who are leaving. So £25 lighter after that trip
* paid for ds1s end of year trips -£32 so its been an expensive morning but at least I'm all sorted and up to date with everything school wise.....for this week at least!
* went to the gym and refilled water bottle twice
* wash a load on the quick wash and hang on the line
* make families lunches for tomorrow
* check banking and update spreadsheet
* sit in the garden and read a book for the rest of the afternoon
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all
Welcome Allie23, hope you stay with us
Managed my modest ambitions for yesterday
Today I will mostly be instructing OH :rotfl:
But I have / will:
Had HG strawberries with breakfast
Washed up / filled DW / cleared sink area
Asked OH to peg washing on the line, now blowing nicely
Picked the few broad beans remaining, rubbish crop this year due to something digging up the plants early on plus blackfly. OH has pulled out the plants and the few weeds around them and is going to plant the leek seedlings I have grown in the vacant space
Pulled out a couple of over the top lettuces and put in compost (high raised bed so minimal effort)
Tidy up a bit, so OH can do the hoovering
Cook some mince for dinner, with veg from the garden
Check on amount of cake OH brought back from his meeting yesterday, to see if I ought to freeze some. Food seems to go off / mouldy so quickly this weather, and yesterday I had to chuck out some stuff that got left when I had to go into hospital
On that note, check fridge and larder contents too!
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Happy Birthday 1LL :bdaycake:0
