Last night the techie team restored all of the old posts they could to the Forum. There's not much missing at all now we think - and from this point on there's nothing left to restore - so anything important missing now will have to be replaced manually. Luckily though; as mentioned this should be fine.
However with the vastness of the Forum; it's quite difficult to spot things missing, so I need your help.
1. Are there any missing threads/post?
There shouldn't be many as the restore should've recovered these, but can you report it here if you spot any that are important.
2. Are there any updated posts that are now out of date?
Any pre-June posts that were updated (ie someone has edited them) will have reverted to their pre-June state. These may've been changed by the original poster; board guides; or the MSE Team. Are any of these missing crucial info that needs to be replaced... if so can you pls report it here.
3. Any one got a spare half hour or so to help?
We need to check that all the Forum links in the articles are now working; its a big job for us and we could do with some help. If you have some spare time and can help it'd be great.
If you are volunteering, please just reply below saying which section of the main site (e.g. family and health) you can do, so that no one else duplicates it, and then go to the section and click every Forum link and discussion link in the article, then if any are missing pls let us know so we can replace it).
I'm really glad we've got the Forum back to almost normal, your help for the last step would be fantastic
Huge in advance thanks
Martin
PS Yes I know the techies have forgotten to take the urgent note of the top of the forum; they're still sleeping after working late to restore the forum; once they're up I've asked them to take it down.

If someone could do Credit Cards and Loans (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/) that would be a huge help.
Just as a reminder, most (but not all) discussion links from articles would have been started by a member of the MSE Team so if you look and they're not can you post the link here letting us know which article it's in?

Martin, in a development a while back we used a 'crawler' to do this very task for us. I think we initially used a product called 'xenu (see here - note that in true MSE fashion it is a free download) which worked very well for simple hTML pages. We did also write our own as well though (there were some problems with the way Xenu worked in relation to the SPPS/CMS generated URLs)
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
