Tax Credit Advisor here to help

Hi i've been working in tax credits now for the last year and thought i would provide general help to anyone that has any queries regarding tax credits.

I can provide general advice to anyone but i cannot comment on idividual circumstances i.e if your next door neighbour is getting more than you and you both only have one child.

I will try to reply to any questions a.s.a.p

welcome, this board needs advisors from all apsects of 'benefits'. as long as we dont get above our stations and sart informing people of stuff we actually arent entirely sure about the help is appreciated. i work for housing benefits but have a limited knowledge of some others on here, mainly because my co are shysters at giving proper training an coz i only work part time i get left out a lot.

Is there any chance you could help on the question lower down about deducting pension contributions from gross income as most of us seem to be thoroughly confused about it?

  • Question for you, thank you for volunteering!

I am currently on IB, IS and DLA since last October.

I will be starting a new job in May on £14K basic + commission. However, there will be no commission payments at all for at least three months. Am I still entitled to claim WTC for the months without any commission?

    Thanks in advance!
  • depends on your circumstances, do you have children, are you classed as disabled, how many hrs a week will you be working, will it be single or joint claim?
  • I've a question. Why are CTC still paying into an old account 4 months after being notified of change???!!!??
Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:
  • depends could be stuck in a unprocessed change of circumstance worklist, there could be a system error blocking the change going through
  • Hi there, do you know how long it usually takes a manual payment referral to go through? Cheers
  • Hi - I have been reading on these boards about deducting pension contributions from gross income - can we do this? My husbands pays £250 a month, so if we can i am v v happy!

    Dear Jamiebraund,

This is exactly what we're up against......system error!!!!!!!! Imagine being fobbed by that one, each and every time you phone TCHelpline for an explanation as to where your money is. NOt much help and berluddy infuriating as the whole system seems to be riddled with errors. If it were a private company it would have closed down ages ago.

Thanks for coming along to help out though, it's very good of you.
