They may be referring to employers contributions. For instance on my payslip my contributions are split into two - what I contribute and what my employer contributes.
I can only think that they are referring to only deducting employees contributions and not employers.Giving up is easy...... just keep on trying!0 -
Hi. I'm after some general advice on the rules or guidelines concerning hardship.
My wife and I owe the Tax Credit Office an overpayment of £4600. She died last year and I'm struggling to make ends meet without even beginning to think about paying this back to them.
Are there any cases you know of, or guidelines the TCO might follow to allow me either extra time to pay this, or even reduce the amount requested completely on an ex gratia basis?
Thanks.0 -
Thanks robindunne for your advice on taking pension contributions off our p60. Tax credits have altered my award they did it really quickly .They are giving me a payment of £400 this week and giving me an extra £50 next month.thanks again.0

boam wrote:Ah ha....Right here goes my woes, last year we was renovating our house and it was totally gutted, to be honest mail was delivered and opened and put in a pile, this included some correspondance from the tax credits asking for some details(again) this got put aside as our circumstances hadnt changed and i thought that you didnt need to tell them if our circumstances hadnt changed, we had a death in the family and my father got admitted to hospital, which was seen as more important...Anyway my gripe is that cos i didnt let them know they sent a letter saying i owed about £300 in overpayments, i disputed this by sending my p60 from year 2005-2006(total earnings about 53k) then it went to some fella that looks into overpayments and he went in favour of the tax credit people, but i can appeal again if i can supply more info? to be honest i have no more correspondance from them other than this so i am at a bit of a loss as to what info they would of wanted from August last year? can you help?
Also another thing is i pay a childminder £200 a week to look after my son, it is in her contract that i pay her even when she does not have him, so if he is ill i have to find alternative ways of looking after him, is there anyway i can claim this cost back somehow?
No, nothing. You don't qualify for the Childcare additon anyway, so you won't get anything - we had the same problem but got zilch!0 -
so i take his yearly amount (gross) and deduct his yearly pension figure which would be £818.14 and give them the new total !!
i want to make sure i have everything correct before i phone them !!
might work in my favour as i have a £900 overpayment from last year and this !!0 -
My OH is just going through the "tax credit minefield" and should be entitled to at least the basic as he's over 50 and returning to work after some time on IB, doing 16 hours a week. My question is ... how long do these credits run for? Is it a year, then it's all up for review, or is it until your circumstances change?
Many thanks.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
cant find my hubbys p60 but we know how much pension he contributed was £782 will that be ok to deduct from his gross income or do i need a p50 to get the real figure ??
also would an extra £4000 a year make much difference to our tax credits for next year (hubby been offered promotion in april)0
