What's happened to ToggleMobile?

Toggle Mobile UK has been migrated to the parent brand Lycamobile.
A text message yesterday morning told me this, the onscreen network is Lycamobile, and the website says click to go to the Lycamobile site.
This means the call rates have increased substantially.

For any users of the Dutch Toggle, apologies for not having seen the post above. I've just seen discussion of this elsewhere. and UK Toggle CS couldn't help someone who called them. I wonder if it might be worth contacting Lycamobile NL, but on the other hand they don't seem to have been any use so far.0 -
I had the text too, not long after I had topped up £20.
I can find no information on the Lyca website about my linked Swiss and US numbers. I just called the Swiss number. It rings. The US number doesn't respond, possibly because the £5 renewal was about to take place about now.
The rates shown on the Lyca website are ridiculously high compared with Toggle. The SMS made no mention of rate changes. I'm not happy. Since the competitive situation has changed significantly since I started with Toggle, I find Lyca rates unacceptable and plan to reject them.
I propose to request a refund of my balance. If that fails, I'll be in touch with my credit card company.0 -
Does Lyca provide a US mobile number too? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Does Lyca provide a US mobile number too?
There is a Lycamobile US brand operating there, if that's what you mean.
If you mean adding a US or other identity on to this ex-Toggle SIM, then that used to be possible but it's either ambiguous or maybe unlikely in future.
Given the roaming rates there now, it won't be worth thinking about unless they make new arrangements.0 -
I got in touch with Lyca and after a few days got a long rambling and unhelpful response. This included a link to supposed saver rates, which didn't show them.
I've requested a refund of remaining credit +/- a few adjustments.0 -
Does Lyca provide a US mobile number too?About your roaming numbers, we are sorry to inform you that your roaming numbers provided by Toggle mobile is no longer valid. However, once you are in the below countries, Lycamobile will give you a roaming number valid for seven (7) days.
· United States
· Romania
· Poland
· Ireland
No mention of cost or rates, and apparently only available after you arrive. Make of it what you will.0 -
Well, at leat you've had a reply.
Perhaps they'll work back to mine fairly soon.0 -
So, I registered just to add my voice to this (for whatever that is worth!). I found out by complete accident that Toggle no longer existed when I had people telling me they could not contact me on my US registered number (I paid £5 per year to keep it).
Naturally I went to the Toggle website and I got the message that it is now part of Lycamobile (let's forget the relationship that existed with parent company, etc. etc. for now) and I was able to login with my UK "Toggle" number and password. I could not find my US registered number so bit the .09p bullet and called them. They said, as stated upthread, that they do not offer the US local number service a la Toggle but they do have great rates and plans (!!!).
I said that my contract was with Toggle (I had topped up mid-October with £20) and that you have changed it without my permission as required under their Ts and Cs, and under UK Consumer Law you have to offer a cooling off period. I asked for the £20 to be refunded. "We have no way of doing that". Well my my my. So, I said if you can take money you are most certainly able to refund it so pass me to a supervisor. And then the all expected "do you mind if I transfer you?" and the line went dead. I will not be calling them again.
So, called my MasterCard provider, said I want to start a chargeback for non-delivery of service and that is the path I am going down as of today. If it helps these are the Ts and Cs that are most relevant in my barrack room lawyer opinion of a) not having received any notifcation b) it is materially detrimental to me:
Please check our website regularly for any changes. Changes to Charges will be reflected in our tariff table from time-to-time. If a change will be materially detrimental to you, Lycamobile will give you at least one month’s notice. If you do not accept a change which is notified to you as materially detrimental then you can cancel this Agreement or cease using the Services or topping-up your Account. If you use the Services or top-up your Account after Lycamobile makes a change, then you are deemed to accept the change.

I shall report back here as to how my luck went with this. I have had experience of Lycamobile and would not touch them with the tip of my umbrella.

Oh, and I also found that auto-topup had been set to "on" from "off", and although I could not see a saved credit card I do not trust these one iota.

I had forgotten about the text message notification of the switch to Lycamobile and did a £20 topup. I was notified that I would get a £5 bonus.
When checking my balance it showed just £20. Further checking on the Lycamobile web site shows that the £5 bonus expires in one month.
I have had a quick look on the web site and was unable to see what the plan is now with Lycamobile. Previously a £20 top would last indefinitely as long as one call was made within a six month period. I suspect that my £20 topup will now expire after 1 month. Does anyone know if this is true?0 -
Per my previous post, my credit card has refunded me the money (£20 topup). Just as well as Lycamobile's email system would appear to be broken as my 3 emails have gone unanswered.0
