What's happened to ToggleMobile?
Options
Anyone know anything about what has happened to Toggle Mobile?
Their website has gone down and their phone top-up system has closed. No social media either.
The SIMs appear to be still working but as it is primarily a travel SIM many users are currently overseas and unable to add credit.
They are owned by Lycamobile but no one there seems to know anything about them either. They have always been very useful so it will be a shame if they close the service but Lyca is a big company and it would be odd if they didn't make any announcement at all?

It might be owned by Lycamobile but may be run separately as a white label operation so it could have had its own support team. The SIMs and whatever else probably all go through the same systems as everything else Lycamobile own and run.
Something similar happened to Plusnet a few months ago where everything just suddenly disappeared. The phone, the internet, the website (from another connection), the support line, everything to do with Plusnet just ceased to exist. It took an hour or so for everything to get going again, presumably a major power outage kicked everything out.
It may be a similar situation here. If its still out after 48 hrs then it'll be time to worry.0 -
Thanks, JPR.
Previously, when checking rates to/from Switzerland* using my local UK and Swiss numbers - unavailable on the website when I was using Chrome - they told me to use Internet Explorer only (!). I have tried that today. There's no Toggle there, nor on Edge, let alone on Chrome.
This morning, I rang 322, the 'help' line. I hung on until a person appeared. He told me that they have been having website issues for a couple of days, and the website would be restored soon. How soon? This morning? This week? This month? This year? He couldn't say. But he could process a top-up. (Er, thanks, but not right now.)
Apart from the service issue and my deposit, I have 3 local numbers on my Toggle SIM - UK, Swiss and US. I would be sorry to lose them, especially the UK one which I transferred in. In the event of Toggle not surviving, I would hope to rescue it.
* The point about Switzerland is that calls to Switzerland suddenly became very expensive a few months ago, even using Three. Toggle's 3p/9p formula no longer applies. Using Toggle went into the do-you-think-I'm-stupid category. The latest Toggle Swiss info I have is:U.K to Switzerland :
Making calls:28 £/min ,local calls:£3/min ,receiving calls -1 £min
Switzerland to U.K:
Making calls :28£/min ,local calls :28£/min receiving calls: 7£/min
[end of quote]
I don't believe £28, £3 or £7. Even if they meant 28p or 7p, I'd find them expensive. 3p would be OK.0 -
on googling, the company hq that google gives in typical right panel,
Permanently closed Toggle Mobile is recorded closed0 -

With no news, I'm reluctant to rely on Toggle for future trips.
Any idea how to retrieve my number? I'd hate to lose it, but with the operation apparently in meltdown, I don't know how I would do this.
Also, as mentioned above, they're sitting on some of my money - about £25 I think. I'd hate to lose that, too.
The competitive situation has changed. I'm with Three, and their roaming would suit me. Also, Smarty is looking good. My wife has virtually unlimited calls for £5 a month, including to Swiss mobiles! (See my earlier post for relevance.)
Smarty have an unlimited calls + data 'for life' offer @ £18.75 (from £25), including Switzerland. I'm tempted.0 -

What news is needed? What is thought to be in meltdown? SIM hasn't stopped working. The website has returned, looks the same.0 -
Interesting.....Please note that from 15th June your bundle allowance will no longer work while roaming. However, you can enjoy Pay As You Go calls, texts and data abroad without paying roaming feesI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Pity it's not Chrome-compatible - the rates tab doesn't work properly. I found it using Edge, though. (Chrome is my default browser.)0 -
I am a Dutch registered user of toggle mobile. I tried today to log into my account using my Dutch toggle mobile phone number and the website responded by saying it did not recognise it ... . I tried sending a message through the contact form available on the website and got a message “service not available, closing transmission channel. The server response was 4.7.0 ... too many errors”. Not sure what to make out of this ! Any info anyone ?0

I could log in just now using my UK number.
Toggle is limited in acceptable browsers. I generally use Chrome and can see account details.
Some pages - e.g. rates - are not available in Chrome. Toggle recommend using IE. In IE, I can see rates
Did you use your Dutch number to set up the account?0
