  • Hi all

Just to let you know that my money has also just come back into my account when I checked yesteray, so big relief. :j I still have a bill from Fed Ex for customs charges though. As I never received the console, I don't know if I should pay this or not. Does anyone have any advice/ideas, please? I did raise this with Gadget Asia on the original ticket, and sent them a copy of the Fd Ex invoice. However, they've not mentioned this, and only refunded the original payment I made through paypal.

  • Good to hear some good news for a change.:T It doesn't make sense to me paying customs charges on something that didn't pass customs, but I don't know. I would ring your local trading standards you can get the number online, if they don't know they will find out for you.
  • my DD purchased a DS bundle from Gadget Asia after 2 recomendations from friends last july, she spent all her birthday money on it, she bought the 43 game package for £160, the only problems we have had are that the adapter (charger) never worked & she also cannot save on the game cartridge as there is not enough memory, which is really annoying if you have got so far on Mario for example & then have to start all over again the next day.

oh yes & also got stung by & £15..ouch..customs charge.

next time we will go along to Game or another games retailer!

Just wanted to warn everyone that I've had a horrible experience with Gadget Asia. Both DS Lites turned up broken. I've had to send them each back twice at a cost of £10 a time. Now they are refusing to send one back (although they have had it for 3 months and sent it back once not fixed) until I send the second one (that's also broken) in because THEY want to save on postage. I don't trust them anymore and I'm really worried they will hang onto both DS lites and my money if I send the second one back.

This is despite admitting that it's a manufacturers fault and telling me that a replacement was already on the way back. This was not true and it was only because I chased I found out they hadn't sent it back at all.

I have no way of getting my money back as they are not covered under UK law. I strongly recommend you buy in the UK (or your local country) and don't go for what looks like a cheaper price but will in the end cost you a lot more (£40 in postage so far) and hours of my time sending e-mails to the helpdesk. There's no phone number so you can't escalate or speak to anyone else. You are stuck.

I'd really hate anyone else to have the stress I've had (not to mention an upset child who's had to do without her DS all this time).

They still have my daughter's pink DS after 3 months. I've sent it back twice because it was broken; they said they had repaired it and it still wasn't fixed. It costs me £10 a time to send it back. My son's turned up missing a screen hinge! It's also not not working. They told me my daughter's DS would be replaced as it was a manufacturer's fault and said they were sending it back. They even gave me a tracking numbers. Turns out it was all lies. They haven't sent it back and they are hanging on to it becasue they want me to send my son's DS back so THEY can save on postage. I'm now down by £40 on postage. You also get charge import tax so they are not cheaper and not worth the hassle.

You also have no comeback as they are not covered under UK law so I can't get my money back and I still haven't got a DS. I can't find any equivalent of small claims in China so I'm stuck. You can't escalate as it's e-mail support only.

Please don't go through the stress I have. Avoid Gadget Asia at all costs. Pay £20 more and buy in the UK (or your local country). It's really worth it and will actually save you money in the end!
  • In December 2008 I purchased 3 Nintendo DS Lites from Gadget Asia as Christmas presents for my children. Once opened on Christmas Day one of the DS Lites would not recognise writing and words on the screen and therefore could not use games such as Brain Training or Sponge Bob drawn to Life. On pictochat it could not draw a straight line. On another of the consoles within a day of playing the A button became twisted and permanently depressed. After contacting Gadget Asia I then returned both consoles to Hong Kong (explaining to my very upset children that they had gone back to Santa\'s elves for repair). Three weeks later the consoles were returned to me, with no technician report, and were exactly the same as when I had sent to Hong Kong nothing had been done to them. After a series of emails I have now been asked to resend them back to Hong Kong for their technicians to look at them. My children now have lost a lot of faith in Father Christmas, I do not want to pay AGAIN to return them to Hong Kong to only have them returned to me in the same state. Their customer service is appalling. They have been rude to me in emails - writing in capitals that I cannot reply to customer service responses. I at this stage do not know what to do.
