  • Maybe you need to re-read your comment, you basically gave an instruction:

"Get an R4 or Supercard DS ONE seperately and the google for any content you want !!"

Im not having a go at all phanco, and I agree with your comments in a way, HOWEVER, as I have said before, this is not a WAREZ board, its supposed to be about genuine moneysaving not copyright theft is it not?? (shes asked for games, brain training to be precise, for gods sake, we KNOW what she means so please lets stop disguising this as "homebrew" and "mp3 player" the R4 is almost (and I say almost) exclusively used to play ripped pirate ROMS!!).

Im not being opinionated, just that this sort of thing kinda lowers the tone of the forum, I for one dont think its good thats all....
  • You won't find it easily on their website but you are liable for any duty or taxes as a result of importing the goods from Hong Kong where Gadget Asia are based. Additionally the shipping charges can be quite high but in fairness to them at least you'll know about these before you buy. The duty and taxes are collected by the shipper not Gadget Asia so you'll not know if you'll get charged until a week or so after delivery.

The Wii I bought had a £35 shipping charge and I then got stung for £36 duty/tax which negated any saving. Also none of the manuals were in English. :embarasse

I used Gadget Asia recently after someone recommended them. I took the free delivery option - took about a week to arrive which I thought was good for free delivery from Asia!

No customs charges or anything - although obviously no guarantee there wouldn't be if you were unlucky, same as anywhere.

    I'd definitely recommend them.
  • Gadet-Asia may be OK if your initial order is fine, but God help you if it’s not. I ordered a Nintendo DS Lite console & game on July 26th and my order is still not complete.

The parcel arrived very promptly on the 30th July, apparently undamaged, but unfortunately when the console was first turned on the top screen had a dead area covering around a square inch. I reported the fault the following day using their ticket system, requesting an RMA.

An initial response told me to wait for instructions on how to return the console. I was still waiting for these instructions when, around 12th August, they closed my ticket. I opened a second ticket on August 14th.

My second ticket led to an RMA number and instructions on how to return the console, which I did by registered post on 15th August. I went on holiday, expecting notification of receipt on my return. Instead they closed my ticket on 31st August using the pretext of two weeks inactive, even though they knew the console was en route. Checking the Royal Mail website showed the console delivered on 1st September. I opened a third ticket on 2nd September.

For two weeks Gadget-Asia refused to acknowledge receipt of the console, despite my urgings for them to contact Royal Mail to see who had signed for the item. Finally on 13th September they said they had received it. They checked the item, agreed the fault was present and repaired it. I thought this was the end of the problems, but no: they said I hadn’t reported the problem for two weeks (wrong!), that it must have been my fault (wrong!) and that I would have to pay £20 for the repairs. When I corrected these errors and told them I did not expect to be charged for the repairs to an item which was received faulty they closed my ticket. I opened a fourth ticket on 18th September.

They claimed to know nothing of any previous tickets and reiterated their claim that I had to pay for the repairs. I directed them to the previous tickets and disagreed that it was my responsibility, and that is where the matter currently rests. It is almost 2 months since my initial order and I still do not have console; their customer service seems to consist of stonewalling and obstruction.

I am about to put the matter into the hands of Paypal in the hope that they may have some leverage with these shysters.
  • I have had nothing but problems with Gadget Asia and strongley recommend not buying their multiple game cards, this was bought for me as a present. The DS is brilliant no problems whatso ever the game card however has stopped working after 3 times of playing it, this is a common complaint with the gadget asia game cards. They are appauling they will not give me a telephone number to call to sort out a replacement they are refusing to sort out the faulty item without charging me, also had the cheek to say its better to upgrade. 3 different advisors have emailed me 1 saying it was my fault the other two saying its a fault with ds gamecards in general. This is really frustrating, i have replied to them with answers that trading standards have advised me so will see what happens from there. Also delivery took 3 months to reach me, so as you can understand was frustrating as wanted in time to give as a present. Please Please think carefully before using Gadget Asia as my friend is also having the same problems as me.

    Good Luck

Have just been sent sent an e-mail to my employer
that customs have impounded 400+ items (Wii's and
DS Lites) from this and another HK based firm "Deal Sniper".

50/60 items a day are coming in from these companies
so be prepared for delay and poss Customs surcharge +
RM handling fee if you've ordered one of these for Xmas.
  • I ordered and received with no problem a DS Lite for my son last Xmas. no problems and it was great. I did get the customs thing though which added another £7-£10. I would recommend them. They do have new DS Lites out too DSi which you cannot get in this country until the middle of next year.
  • Are they genuine DS lite's though? Only this week there was a lady from customs + excise who was warning us about fake games consoles from Asia on BBC Breakfast ...

Mine isn't! I bought it from Gadget-Asia the beginning of September it is a crimson and black Bejing Olympic game model. It came with 43 in 1 game and cost one hundred and fifety eight pounds ninety nine pence. I checked it when it arrived, it never occured to me it was not genuine until I heard the news. I have checked it out now and it is fake. I have never joined a forum before, but wouldn't like anyone to go through what i am going through. At least I have found out now without any injury to my children. It worked fine!
