false car insurance claim made against me

You can call it what you like, if you want them to offer you a policy, then you have to abide by their T&Cs otherwise they can cancel the deal .
If it is a clear accident involved I would definitely report it to the insurance company.
For this case, I don't think it is an accident and I don't think I would have violated the policy's T&C.Should the company use this as an excuse to cancel my policy, I will definitely make an official complaint to the financial ombudsman.0 -
In my T&C it does have sth similar to above mentioned under "Accident and Claims Procedure" section, but there was no accidents happened on that day, I am not exactly sure why I should report to the insurance company. I did tell the insurance company what had actually happen when they first contact me. But I am not sure what difference this would have make.0

Post#17 reminds you "You must tell us as soon as reasonably possible about any incident which may lead to a claim under this policy. If you receive any notice of prosecution, inquest or fatal accident inquiry or you are sent a writ, summons, claim or letter, you must send it to us, unanswered, as soon as possible".
You keep going on what you THINK, what you THINK is not going to be a defence, if they do cancel your policy, even if you complain it doesn't mean your complaint will be upheld, then you have the question on future proposal requests....have you ever had a policy cancelled?

As i replied earlier, this is your T&C, my T&C does not have 'which may lead to a claim under this policy', as my T&C also says if Accidents happen, not under all circumstances.
Not really, but I merely reply to what I would do after you THINK the insurance would do.
Conveniently , you didn't quote what the policy states on the matter, it would be strange for them not to cover all bases, so whilst the you may interpret what the policy states , the T&Cs are there for you to review .
At the end of the day it is your episode to deal with along with the relevant parties.0 -
A scam, or a prank?
e.g. according to your theory, if i got a parking ticket (a notice to claim?), I will have to tell my insurance immediately?
No, because your insurance doesn’t indemnify you against parking fines, and don’t need to know about them.
However, it’s clear to anyone with a brain cell that a note saying “You hit my car” is notice of a potential claim covered by your insurance. Arguing with your insurer about the fine print of the policy is unlikely to end well.0 -
Do you still have the phone number from the note left on your screen? Run it through who-called.co.uk and see if it's a "risky" number used by a scammer in the past to try and illicit money. Let us all know the result, it will help us and others not to fall for the same trick.0

I just checked the tel number on the website, doesn't seem to be a high risk number. Earlier post pointed out that it wouldn't be one policy holder making multiple claims.
I would try to chase my insurer next week to see what they concluded from my dashcam footage.0 -

Just double check the T&C, no obligation for notification of potential claim. Just need to report to insuer "intended prosecution, fatal inquiry or any writ, summons" after the accident (which there were none)0
