Hello I know this is an old thread but hoping someone can help - if a person is showing on the gov website does that mean that probate has been granted? Or that the probate office has the application? Any help I would really appreciate it :-)

What do you mean by 'if a person is showing online'?

If Probate has been granted, you can obtain a copy for £1.50 from here:

Yes sorry - I have searched and the person is showing, I am buying a property and the other side have kept us waiting saying they are awaiting probate but when I search the above website it shows and I can add it to my basket - I hope that makes sense 😊

It's been a while since we did this, but I'm pretty sure my Mother-in-law's name did not appear on the list until probate had been granted. What makes progress more difficult to judge is that the official list only shows date of death, not date of application.  We got the probate application in within two weeks of the death, while other executors can delay the application for months.

My understanding is that a probate won’t show on the gov website until 2 weeks after the probate has been issued?

If you can buy the will, then probate has been granted. However, what does your conveyancing solicitor say about this?

I sent them a screen shot of the will being available online and asked if this meant probate has been granted? They said they didn’t know :-( had a update from Estate Agent today and the Sellers Solicitor are still saying they are waiting for probate....

Does the date correspond? Might you be looking at probate for say Mr XYZ dying some years back and the property went to Mrs XYZ who has now deceased? If its only £1.50 why haven't you bought it to look?

Yes all dates add up it definitely is the correct person - I have but it’s not available straight away you have to wait for it to be available/downloaded.
