  • So doing the sums looks like Neon Reef for electric and Zog for gas, both on 12 month fix with £66 exit fees, which is about £250 cheaper than Green new rates for me per year. Also looking at EDF fix for 3 years, with £30 exit fees and a £50 credit sign on, which is about £30 less a year than Green. I think a 12 month fix at this time has got to be a good idea, but not sure about the longer fix.

@Redlakes i was about to sign up to the 3 year fix  with EDF with a £100 bill credit on top. Just before I committed I fired off an email to green informing them and asking if there was any deals available to better the EDF tariff. To my suprise I got a reply from greens COO. I sent the prices of the impending EDF tariff off to him and he bettered them . Ok it's only a one year fix as opposed to a 3 year fix and has exit fees whereas edf didnt but the tariff he secured for me Is over 150 a year cheaper than the notified Price rise. Personal intervention like thIs Means a lot to me so im staying with Green

  • I got the email as well but so far I can't find anyone to move to that isn't at least £200 a year dearer.

Shocking, just joined on Cypress and now this!
any idea when these rises reflect on the energy club comparison site in order to give a true reflection of the alternatives? At the moment still saying this is the cheapest

Yes I tried to use the energy club calculator and it won't show these incredible high prices.

You don't need to wait for the comparison sites to be updated with the new prices to find a cheaper deal if you can do a bit of maths and know your annual consumption in kwh

For example if you know that based on kWh that your annual charge for gas / elec is £X on current green tariff and £Y on the new 1st Oct tariff, then just compared the annual costs for the deals being presented on screen to see if they are cheaper that £Y.

The comparison sites will tell you how much more expense they are than £X for now until updated.

Calculate elec / gas separately as well so you can compare separate deals as well.
I used my estimated usage and looked at the next cheapest offers and put my switch in place. Just stupid that I only switched a month ago. Only got my first meter read this week.

I didn't think that utility cos. are allowed to offer "bespoke" prices - presumably he has had you put on a tariff which was no longer available to new customers ??

@brewerdave That's exactly what has happened I have been put onto a recently expired tariff no longer open to customers to apply. It's not a bespoke deal. It was removed from sale on 12th August

Well I'm in  a Tizz right now with Green Energy as mine has gone from c.£1060 a year to £1560 - that's a 50% hike!
I'm on Larch for both and have been on for a year and the rates are going up similar to those posted above....20.77 Electric 4.18 Gas.
The annoying thing is Green are probably one of the best suppliers I have ever dealt with and I'm over 70 and seen a few!!
Their customer service is 5*, they answer the phone very quickly, they told me exactly which date in the month to send in my readings so I never get estimated figures or mess up their calculations by supplying a day early or late, their rates were the best at the time (and still are until Oct 1st) and yet I am now having to scour the market for something and someone else as a 50% hike is outside my pension affordability.
I use about 3800 Electricity units and around 14,200 gas. 2 of us in a 3 bed SD house. I use the MSE cheap energy calculator, but the prices are going sky high.
I'm not so techi and can't stand all these changes and searching - each hour at my time of life is precious!
Drives me nuts, but needs to be done. Very disappointing all this as you find a good service and supplier and are forced to change - barmy!

Indeed. If you do find a good price it is likely to be with an unknown tin-pot company who will fold at some point, probably give bad service too (not always the case fortunately). One thing you can do to keep cost down is to look at for example if you can have your boiler on for less time, that takes a fair bit of juice; same with other things like towel rails. For us, that cut our bill a fair bit, just some simple changes.

GreenSupplierLtd recently as one of my previous issue is still not resolved, 3 months later.

No reply as yet. The COO was happy to help before, now seems to be ignoring...
