Mine built a bubble nest too with just one & one so it's not impossible... never actually got any babies - guess the female wasn't very maternal

we have had one for about 18mth now, there real easy to look after they dont get too dirty as there is only one fish, its just kept in a small un heated vase about 1ltr, this was one of the larger tanks that was sold for them, some are only the size of small jam jars0

pollyanna- there's a difference between surviving and thriving,
I mention again that one could keep a puppy in a cupboard, but most people with a conscience would be ashamed to inflict such cruelty on a puppy.
Fish don't seem to be so fluffy and cute, so don't always warrant the same decent treatment as our furry friends, but it doesn't mean they deserve to be kept in an oversized cup.:eek:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

1 litre is far too small a volume of water to keep one of these in. :mad:0 -

Yes your quite right puppy dogs should not be kept in cuboards its not thier "natural" envrioment.
However these fish do not need huge amounts of water and mine is prefectly happy and thriving how it is, just because it dosent need a big tank to be kept in i am not being cruel by keeping mine in a small tank.
Theres also alot of people would think that keeping any kind of fish in tanks no matter how much water there is in it is cruel.0 -
Dont know how youve managed to keep one 18 mths in a Unheated Vase.
