I hastily phoned the branch who couldn't say whether my new account was an issue 16 or 17 as the system would only update overnight!

The lady dealing with me printed off all the Key Facts blurb about the issue 17 and disappeared for about 10 minutes whilst she printed off my passbook.
On arriving home I made a transfer into my new account but then noticed it was an issue 16 account.

As I already hold an issue 16 account I phoned VM on Saturday 01/06 and they confirmed it was indeed an issue 16 account. The inadequacy of the VM systems allowed me to open a second issue 16 account and at a time when the issue 17 was the account on sale.
Fortunately staff in the local branch managed to sort things out with VM head office and I got a new passbook on Tuesday 04/06 creditting me interest on my deposit but what a palaver!
This was after a double interest credit on a VM eSaver due to their inadequate system and the ensuing arguements and allegations back and forth back in 2015 when I swore I'd never use VM again!
Four years later they obviously haven't changed!
What time was your appointment on 31st May?
Issue 17 was released at 2pm on 31st May. Accounts opened after that time would be Issue 17, but before that time Issue 16 was the one that was available to open.
My appointment was at 3.30pm that afternoon and my account is an Issue 17. I'm looking at the passbook now.
The bit you were told about the system updating overnight is cobblers.0 -
In case anyone didn't know:

Retired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.

So who's opening a new Virgin Money Regular Saver tomorrow?0

I did. Walked into branch at 3pm, expecting to have to make an appointment, walked out at half past, with account open. That includes maybe ten minute wait, with coffee, for the adviser to be available.Eco Miser

Manged to open mine half hour before they closed yesterday. Very pleased with the branch service but no sign of this account being available online once again.0
