After a week since I first contacted them they finally got back to me.
The first date that they could fit me in is Friday 14th!!! Still, appointment finally booked.

With the Haymarket branch, I call them and if they don't pick up the phone after 3 rings, I hang up and wait 5 mins and repeat. I always get to speak to someone on my 3rd or 4th attempt.

I never leave a message for them to call back because they either call you end of day or several days after you've left a message.

Ok i’ve read it again, yes you’re right!

I think I was clinging to ‘maximum yearly deposit £3250’ in false hope! :rotfl:

It's not all bad news. In fact it can turn out you needn't have asked the question.

They've since launched a new issue (17) a few days ago, and you can open one of those (no restriction on having different issues), so you could add up to £500 this and subsequent months across the two, or even more later if they carry on this bimonthly new issue cycle.

Thanks I'll remember that trick if I need to call them again.

Unfortunately yes. My only other options from here are either Enfield or Chlelmsford. I do not drive & the train fare to the other two stores would wipe out any interest benefit.

    Thanks anyway

I guess you live in London? You can use Oyster card on the London Overground tube line to Enfield, it's the last stop, which shouldn't be too much, a few pounds maximum. There's also one in Golders Green next to Hamstead Heath. Their London office is in St Jame's too.

Can you carry over your allowance?

I only put £240 in in May and only £50 in April so can I put £460 in for June?

Thanks, i’ve looked at the summary box on the website and it’s not explicit.

Some Regular Saver's will let you carry over monthly deposits in future months if you don't deposit the maximum, but Virgin Money does not.

Thanks, it’s really just this month, I don’t have the funds to keep two topped up every month. I have two regular savers at 5% so they get the bulk of what I can put away.

Worth remembering for when my NW one matures and can’t be replaced though, thanks!

Whilst opening my issue 17 Today, I was chatting to the guy processing it about the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank Group takeover.

He said he was looking forward to being able to move from the Northern Rock system that they are currently based one to the modern digital platform that CYGB use.
Not sure what will happen to our beloved Virgin RS :happylove, but looks like it could go online, but that's only if CYGB keep it going.

I asked when he thought the move to the CYGB platform would happen. He couldn't say for definite, but anticipated October this year.

So there might only be 1 or 2 issues of this account in it's current form left

Well it wouldn't be a sparkly new system, as they would use the one already existing at CYGB, but there might be issues migrating if they were to be as sloppy as TSB

Hmm, as it happens, my savings with Virgin use this old paper based passbook system, so they're not going to get lost in the electronic ether, one would hope

We can only wait and see :undecided

I was able to get an appointment at my local VM branch on 31/05 (issue 17 RS release day) having made them aware I wanted to open an issue 17 RS.
The lady dealing with me printed off all the Key Facts blurb about the issue 17 and disappeared for about 10 minutes whilst she printed off my passbook.
On arriving home I made a transfer into my new account but then noticed it was an issue 16 account.
I hastily phoned the branch who couldn't say whether my new account was an issue 16 or 17 as the system would only update overnight!
As I already hold an issue 16 account I phoned VM on Saturday 01/06 and they confirmed it was indeed an issue 16 account. The inadequacy of the VM systems allowed me to open a second issue 16 account and at a time when the issue 17 was the account on sale.
Fortunately staff in the local branch managed to sort things out with VM head office and I got a new passbook on Tuesday 04/06 creditting me interest on my deposit but what a palaver!
This was after a double interest credit on a VM eSaver due to their inadequate system and the ensuing arguements and allegations back and forth back in 2015 when I swore I'd never use VM again!
Four years later they obviously haven't changed!
