I have always closed mine by post (4) to the address above with a signed letter of my instructions.  I have never sent the passbook.  I am just thinking perhaps I should this time.  I did ring up and ask for envelopes before the last one because they have never supplied them with the maturity instructions.

If you are over 70 you should not be going out to post letters. So if you are in that category you should inform Virgin Money either by secure message or telephone
I combine posting letters with my daily leg stretch!

Me too. Downloaded form from link earlier in this thread and posted it today, with passbook and very brief, non ranting, letter in repurposed envelope.

"Questions that came to mind on receiving your letter of April 2020 about the maturity of Regular Saver Issue 16 on May 1st 2020:

    1. I’ve always before visited the branch to close the account and withdraw the funds to a non-Virgin account, but I can’t do that this time as I’m self-isolating. So what do I do?
    2. There was no franked envelope enclosed, do I send the passbook away and if so where - branch or Head Office? No form enclosed to apply for a faster payment to the non-Virgin account? Is there such a form? If so, where do I find it?

In order not to pester your reduced and probably inundated staff with phone enquiries, I’ve found the answers on a website forum.

To be left in the dark like that does Virgin no favours. You could have done so much better."

Had to be said I think. Ironically I've had an e-mail invite today to complete a satisfaction survey about Virgin Money. I never do surveys as the results are collated by an independent outfit and appear as '83% of women report an improvement in the sheen on their hair from using XYZ!' in their advertising. And if you give a 0 marking for everything, nobody gets in touch to ask why and can they help by looking into your problem.

In the spirit of sharing, this is mine

'Today I received your letter dated April 2020 informing me that my above account is due to mature on 1st May and giving details of the Easy Access Save Reward into which you will transfer maturity funds.

The Key Product Information I received on opening the account said you would write to me to let me know the options available. Apart from the default above, the only option your letter gave, is to transfer to another Virgin Money savings product, suggesting I call you.

I had expected to be told how I could close my account and withdraw my funds. I sincerely hope the omission of that information was an oversight!

As I was able to undertake some online research and consult a consumer forum, I found out how to close my account. Not everyone is able to do that. For totally understandable reasons, your website is asking people not to call unless it is urgent. I think you are putting unnecessary pressure on your staff by failing to include such information.'

PS what is that XYZ hair stuff of which you speak? It sounds wonderful. Where can I buy some?

Further research has shown that there are serious side effects from repeated use, a question of hair today and gone tomorrow.

That's a coincidence. Just realised the lady who replied to my email from the St Albans branch of Virgin Money was the manager of my local Saffron BS branch. That's why I've not seen her at Saffron BS since last June..

That's good to hear. I've got an account maturing soon, and I won't be able to send them my passbook as I've moved back in with my mum and dad for the foreseeable, and forgot to bring the passbook with me. I spoke to someone from Virgin on the web chat and she said I'd need to send it along with the withdrawal request, but I'll give it a try without the passbook if you've not needed it in the past.

So is everyone happy at just dropping a passbook evidencing over £3k plus withdrawal instructions within a freepost envelope (or indeed an envelope with a first class stamp) into a postbox?   What happens if it never arrives at Head Office?
