I agree @ohdearhowdidthathappen and have had good success in the past, just lacking motivation for it at the moment but there is quite a pile of things to list so once I find my mojo I'll be a woman on a mission 💪
Child benefit due Monday has been paid early thanks to that option on M0nzo, it's been allocated to the relevant pots and £10 of it sent to the CC. It's my payday on Monday and there's a decent amount of overtime showing on my payslip so need to have a think about where that's going. DH and I have booked a couple of gigs for later in the year so some of the money will be going towards those, the rest is likely to be split between savings and the CC but want to talk it through with DH first.
Busy day at work today for DH and I and then a chippy tea for us all this evening, none of us were bothered about fish so chose a few cheaper options and the 4 of us were fed for £13.60 which doesn't seem too bad.
World Cup fever has hit our house for the boys ⚽ I'm going with the flow as not really interested, but have helped them set up a wall planner to record the results and shown them where to watch the match highlights so the kids can catch up on those matches that are on in the early hours.
DS2 earned a little bonus on his pocket money today as he's been awarded Star of the Week by his teacher for excellent behaviour and showing kindness to others which was lovely to hear. DS1 also had some lovely feedback from his teacher for a piece of written work he's completed but he was happy to receive a chocolate bar out of the treat tub for his little reward!
I will admit to having a glass of wine while catching up on here while the football is on in the background 🥂

£13.60 for a take out tea for 4 is great.

Thanks @beanielou
Well after my last post we had a bit of amusement (me and the boys) & shock (DH) when DH's office chair that has been on it's last legs gave up the ghost and broke when DH sat on it, leaving him and the chair in a heap on the floor. I promise that I did offer my sympathies once I stopped laughing 😂😂
I can confirm DH was fine but the chair has gone to the great office in the sky and we've got a new one due to be delivered tomorrow. We managed to find one that will go with the decor of the room as well as being sturdy and supportive enough for DH working from home. Managed to get it discounted to £43 with a voucher code too so not too bad.
Work day for me today, went in quickly. DH and the boys have been on the ball and have dusted and hoovered everywhere as well as getting a load of washing done and pegged out 🙂
Picked my nieces up on the way from work for a play date and made the 5 of us chicken wraps and salad for tea. DH has a gig tonight so left the house just after 7, my BIL will pick my nieces up in an hour then it'll be showers and bed for me and the boys.

Well DS2 definitely has World Cup fever, he tried and failed to stay awake long enough to watch Brazil v Morocco but without me knowing about it, had set an alarm to wake up at 2am to watch the Scotland match 😮 I was woken up by him cheering the win but it didn't fully register what the sound was so I fell back asleep. I came downstairs at 6 this morning to discover him fast asleep on the sofa with the TV still on. Apparantly he'd tried and failed to stay awake to watch the Turkey match 😂
Needless to say DH and I will be much more on the ball (pardon the pun) tonight and will be switching off any alarms off that DS2 may try to set! DS1 is less enthused by the football but is enjoying watching the highlights and keeping the wall planner up to date.
DH's gig went well but he was back fairly late so it's been a lazy day for the boys while I was at work. We all went for a walk when I finished work as it was quite sunny then we came back home and enjoyed a mini BBQ tea in the garden - burgers, sausages and salad.
My pay day tomorrow and we have £18 left in the budget that I'd left for a top up shop but haven't needed it so have sent that to the CC along with the usual £2 PAD.
Tiredness is taking over the boys as I type, they're arguing over every little thing so it'll be a quick shower and bed for them shortly then DH and I can enjoy some peace and quiet!

I also failed miserably in staying up for Brazil game, my missus also set an alarm for Scotland - although her waking me at 4am to tell me Scotland won, I was not a fan of 🤣

Happy Monday 😛
DS2 slept all night, I popped in his room before I went to bed and was relieved to see he hadn't set any middle of the night alarms 😆
Pay day for me today, have used the overtime to pay for the gig tickets we put on the CC last week and sent £111 to the CC to bring the balance down to £200, have added the remainder to savings.
I really do appreciate the fact that we're in a relatively good financial position at the moment after a tricky start to the year, 2025 also had it's financial issues, especially when DH was unwell so I'm trying to make the best of the current upturn. The overtime at work won't last forever, we need to make the best of it while it's available and I think a balance of reducing debt, adding to savings and booking a future event to look forward to is a good balance us for this month.
We owed £7435 at the start of the year, so it's a boost to see how much we've managed to pay down in the first half of the year.
