To state the obvious - it’s not the service which is the problem, but the pricing.

Lots of companies charge big money for crap. It’s up to you to decide where you spend your money and obviously £3K on a dating agency is stupid.

You sound like you expect them to magic up amazing single people out of a magic lamp?

I didn't expect them to magic up anyone , I am pointing out the stupidity of paying that sort of money to those that may be tempted, as I have said most of the membership is like me average and I am not amazing believe me.

Sorry it's not the obvious, I think the service is the problem as they promise a service they cannot provide, if they had enough members ( especially more chaps) to meet expectations it wouldn't be a problem and people wouldn't be moaning like drains, people are happy to pay for a good service.

The main reason I left was I had enough of having to listen to the complaints whilst supping my soup and I diversified my social life.

I have never paid out anything other than their bargain basement lifetime joining fees ( £300 & £399) and yup maybe I was daft to even pay that. I have dipped in and out paying the lowest "social" monthly fee to one of the agencies to attend their social events , ( the other agency only charged an initial joining fee and sent intros every month )

I wasn't stupid enough on both occasions to fall for the big sell from the "consultant" of paying big bucks to have their Mystic Meg supply the cream of their membership as dates.

No please tell me , I have never been of that mindset or paid a premium to meet any one , I am just saying what some of the membership who have shelled out experience.

However you can't blame someone who has paid a premium to have a PA (to hand select people who meet their criteria, be them a guy or a gal) , and who has driven miles, only to find that the person selected does not a match any of their criteria, to not feel rather miffed !!

A bit like if you have paid a PA a premium to source a top theatre ticket only to find yourself stuck behind a pillar:D

What is sounds like is people are paying a large sum of money to join an agency and they're upset that they're being matched with people who have payed less. Like they're upset they might be being matched with poor[er] people. It makes the people sound snobbish, and shallow - as if they believe the size of somebodies bank account is the most important aspect of their suitability.

I'm not suggesting you are like that - the rest of what you wrote doesn't really sound like it. I'm suggesting you might want to choose your words more carefully. (For instance, don't bring up the membership tier of the matches)

Firstly without being rude to you, whilst you have the right to disagree or comment please do not tell me how to word my posts, or what I can bring up as far as I can see you are not a moderator and we still have free speech.

What I posted was my observations and also my experience as when I was used as an intro (even though only had social membership) the Gold's I was matched with and met were not chuffed. Firstly coz I was an Old Mcdonald and secondly I had not paid for introductions only social .

Whether it is socially acceptable or not, or I agree or not, which I don't people join agencies and pay for premium membership and are sold it and as such are expecting to meet professional, well groomed men/women who can afford to do the activities they enjoy. If you pay for standard membership then you can't expect as much.

It is a bit like paying 1k to drive a Ferrari for the day and when you go to pick it up they can only give you a clapped out Ford Focus you would be annoyed, well I would having had a clapped out Focus.

    Not quite the same analogy.

it's like paying £1k to drive a Ferrari, finding out someone else paid £250 to do the same and then complaining.

Yes I like that better  in your analogy though at least you still get a Ferrari.

I just used OkCupid, I met my boyfriend on there and we've been together since 2013. Though I do see what you're saying, they can be really expensive.

And in your analogy it assumes that the person with the focus, is getting a chance at a Ferrari... :)

I didn't *tell* you to do, or not do anything. I clearly and deliberately used the word "suggest".

You're obviously free to present yourself as you see fit. If you want to come across as a materialistic snob, then that is your prerogative.

why am I paying 3k for a PA to select professional attractive men and getting overweight elderly men with comb overs who are only Bronze or Silver members"

Since this seems to be a sticking point for you, I would like to ask you (and the other members) why it's fair that women are given free entry to clubs whilst men have to pay? Neither is fair but it's basic supply and demand.

EDIT: I see Ergates also queried the persistent mentioning of what the men pay...

So actually - you were getting a higher level of service than you had paid for and the Golds were getting the service they had paid for... You got upgraded by the agency because you had some of the qualities that were presumably in short supply but not enough of them to meet the expectations of some of the Golds?

Your motoring analogy sounds more like you paid Mondeo/Insignia rates but got upgraded to BMW/Mercedes level whereas your dates paid for a BMW, expected a Bentley and got a Skoda Superb.
I need to think of something new here...
