What small DFW things will you do w/c 13th May?

DNMS when we rented a tiny cottage without a washing line about 12 years ago, we used to do as CLF suggested, put the airers outside. The large one has bars that run along the ground linking the legs, I used to put unopened bags of coal on the bars so I could still put the washing out in windy weather. The other airer had to take its chances as it doesn't have a bar at the bottom.
So far today:
Washing drying outside in the sunshine :j
Passed on a bag of preloved children's clothes
Dd received 2 bags of hand me downs this morning
Went shopping and stuck to the list
Put all the shopping away
Take snacks and drinks to training this morning
Home educate children for free
Stuck to the meal plan we wrote yesterdayFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
Will try to be more frugal this week with a helping of inspiration from this thread.
Left car on drive today, bus / walk rest of way to work
My usual “loser’s lunch” at work of just fruit
Gym at lunch break
Not saving any money but all my work clothes for the week have been ironed and hung up ready
Was going to contribute towards OH dentist bill last week but this came in less than expected so some money that I had written off ended up coming back to me, however ‘cost neutral’ really as I paid for my mum’s birthday present (not till next month but trying to plan ahead)
Some really big spends looming:
Replace broken garden gate this weekend
Car tax due end of month
Car MOT & service also due

Hello :hello:
Today begins... exam season!
I may be very sporadic on here over the next 6 weeks or so. And it gets very difficult to keep the DFW faith when I'm so busy - but I will definitely be trying...
Nothing to report - work still stressy - managed a nsd and very much enjoying the nice weather. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Evening all

Didn't manage a NSD today, as I had to get washing detergent. Picked up an own brand one (big box) in Mr S, and swiftly put it down again when I noticed that P*rsil was on offer £1 cheaper for the same size. I have gone back to powder, as it comes in a recyclable cardboard box, unlike the little capsules which come in a new plastic container each time. It is cheaper too, and tbh, it all gets the washing clean, doesn't it?
Also picked up another pair of comfy trousers from the CS, and had to buy some tissues because I had gone out without one

Bit of gardening this afternoon - planted out plants which had outgrown their pots and needed to go out. Hope the weather is kind to them!
2 loads of washing dry (sorry DNMS!)
Sat in the sun with my book for half an hour this afternoon
Had a little BBQ for dinner, just OH and I. Used items from the freezer, so no extra cost
Cut a load more salad leaves, which are currently soaking in the sink. Will have to dry them in a minute, and put them in the fridge in the plastic bag I use (and re-use, over and over again) for this purpose.
Got some cake I made last week out of the freezer for this week
Need to do some paperwork, washing up and then settle down with my book again

Confession, didn't go for club run, stayed in and had dinner in garden w 2 young men and enjoyed a lovely chat, did dishes and took one young man to the train station for him to go back to uni.
Then went for a lovely dusk walk with friend, a hair chili but very beautiful.
Hoping for nsd until Friday!Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning all :hello: looks like another lovely day for you gardeners out there
sadly I'll be in all day in my office
My list for today:
Pay some bills, money from savings
DH and I have curry for lunch I made yesterday
Quick tidy through
Triage fridge
Wrap a birthday gift so I can pass on to someone to deliver
Hot drink for my commute
Portion up chicken delivery when it arrives
Investigate cat hotels. We don't use one when we go away as our pal kindly looks after the fur ball but may need to use one for a few days when we have some work done later this year.
Have a good day all Purps.0 -
You really do have to check all of the prices, all of the time, don't you!!Didn't manage a NSD today, as I had to get washing detergent.
I have to admit, I never deserted powder - I never liked the idea that with tabs or pods you have to use a whole one every time, even if it's a smaller wash, or the clothes aren't overly grubby. I much prefer powder - I can use less if I want to.
Bought some strawberry plants and a clump of rhubarb yesterday, and planted them in the front garden (I don't have a back garden). Fingers crossed I'll get some produce from them. Also thinking about a trailing tomato plant for the hanging basket, and maybe training something edible up through the railings. Seems a shame to have the space and not use it.
The 'find this woman a job' campaign continues - someone is supposed to be ringing me today to offer me some free advice on how to go about it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Well, that was a waste of effort. Her first question was 'are you unemployed' and I said no - so I didn't fit the criteria. Which is fair enough - except they'd already asked that question when I applied for the free-advice. So why bother ringing at all??
I'm also going to be sorting out the bank accounts - I'm trying to maximise the amount of interest/cashback/switching bonus we get. But it's complicated!! Because we're separating a joint account into two sole accounts, we can't use the switching service (and therefore can't take advantage of the switching bonuses on offer, which is blumin' annoying). The plan at the moment is for me to open a sole account in my name, then manually transfer all 'my' direct debits etc across to that account with my share of the money. I'll then 'recommend a friend', and he'll then do the same (and we'll split the bonus). We'll leave a balance in the old joint account sufficient to cover the mortgage payment. Then we'll switch that account to somewhere that will give us a decent bonus (and split that too). Then all we have to do is set up direct debits out of our sole accounts into the new mortgage account, so that we're paying half the mortgage each. What could possibly go wrong. First part done - I'm now the proud possessor of a shiny new bank account.
Looks like it's going to be a lovely day today. Whatever else we're doing today, let's try to just stop for 5 minutes and enjoy it. xx Had coffee outside this morning - lovely. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

Left car at home again today, will do the bus part-way, walk part-way to work combination.
Gym / shower / change using work gym.
Not planning to do anything after work this evening, determined to have a NSD.
Lovely weather today, enjoy everyone.0 -
Morning to all the lovely supportive and caring people who contribute to this thread.
We also use washing powder, partly because it is easy to adjust the amount used to suit the load & partly because we are not paying to transport the water in liquid detergents and the packaging is a paper sack (we buy a 100 wash sack) which we reuse for storing kindling in the outbuilding.
Todays plans are:
PAD Done
NSD Done
Check bank accounts Done
Ensure I updated spending diary with all yesterdays spends Done, yes I had done it yesterday
All meals from stores Done
Stick with the meal planDone
Home educate children for free Done
Dry washing outside on the lineDone
Get organised for tomorrow, snacks packed, clothes out etc Done
I also plan to follow trailingspouse advice to take 5 minutes to enjoy the day. DoneFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0
