Thank you all so much!! ❤
We had a fantastic day! We got perfect weather and were able to have the ceremony out in the venue gardens, in their gazebo. The food was lovely and the cake even better! We then had a great reception in the evening. Yesterday and today have been spent relaxing as we were both absolutely knackered. We were very spoilt with cards and presents from everyone, so over the next few days I will be writing out thank you cards!
I've done a list below of costs so I can see how much it has cost us overall, but also to give other people that are thinking about getting married an idea of how much things are at the moment.
Dress, shoes and accessories: £155 - very much on the cheap end of the scale, both my dress and shoes were from Amazon as I didn't want anything too fancy, I did however buy a fancy hairclip from etsy and then new underwear. As you know I got some of my late nan's jewellery to wear as my something old and borrowed.
Suit: £400 - DH went for a blue suit which included trousers, waistcoat and jacket, with white shirt, lilac tie and braces. He did already have some nice shoes. He will more than likely wear this suit again as his brother will be getting married soon as well.
Rings: £440 - I went for a platinum ring with a few sparkles and DH a plain band.
Venue: £2100 - we decided to get married and have the reception all in one place so no to'ing and fro'ing required.
Notice to marry: £70 - unfortunately this is mandatory and £35 each.
Registrar: £556 - again, mandatory!
Food: £858 - we were able to have a buffet bbq (£18per head) after the ceremony and then bowls of chips on the tables at the evening reception (£12 per bowl). We only had a small wedding of 43 people and then probably another 30 for the reception.
Table settings: £375 - This included table cloths, seat covers with bows, guest book, centre pieces, a cake table, card and present table etc.
Disco: £500 - This did include the word LOVE in giant LED letters.
Photographer: £650 - This is just for photos, we didn't have a video.
Cake: £350 - This was a 12" cake and then 50 cupcakes. Very yummy!
Make-up and hair: £235 - I did pay for mum to have her make-up done as well so would have been around £170 without that.
Invitations: £25 - we bought these off Amazon and just filled them in. This included 50 wedding, 50 reception and 100 RSVP cards.
Dogs in kennels: £75 - it killed us to do it but was only for one night!
Total: £5931.
My parents wanted to do something so they organised and paid for the flowers for us.I will be laying the bouquet on my nan's grave this week. They were also kind enough to book us a room in the nearby hotel.
Overall not as much spent as I thought! I believe the average wedding is about £10,000. We didn't want to go ott but we also didn't really scrimp. I wouldn't change anything about it and we had an amazing day with family and friends. 😃 and I know this is usually an anonymous site but sod it! Here's me and DH! (Feel free to say hello if you do ever see me in real life 😂)
Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!14 -
