Hope everyone is having a lovely jubilee weekend.
I went into work for a few hours yesterday, just to get a bit more caught up. I won't get paid for it, but it was for my own peace of mind more than anything. I'm hoping it might have a good effect when I go for the interview for my promotion soon though. Dedicated to cause and all that!
The mortgage is at £49,150.15 after the interest was added on and then my normal payment taken off for June. I'm tempted to round it down but I'm going to leave it until my 10% allowance resets on the 28th June and then pay off £1k. This will save me an early repayment charge and also reduce my monthly amount.
I've claimed £12.50 from panelbase.net this week which will go towards one of my nephews birthday presents in a few days.
Not a lot else to report really!
Have a great weekend xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Happy Sunday!
On Friday my promotion was made official and everyone informed. I am now Customer Team Leader. I will have two administrators and an engineer on my team ( the engineer I'd previously worked with for years, so it'll be good working with him again). I will be in charge of order processing and customer complaints, something I've done by myself for a long time until recently when they hired a lady to take over customer complaints from me. Turns out she is not the best and needs supervision from someone who has more experience, so that's me! Tbh part of me will be glad to have more involvement in it, it's never nice seeing something you worked so hard at to go into a bit of a mess!
With my new responsibility comes a pay rise to £27,000 pa. I know that might not sound a lot to some, but it's not bad for where we live, I have no travel expenses and live frugally, so it means more money to put towards getting rid of this mortgage and then savings to buy our forever home.
Feeling quite nervous and excited about my first day in my new role tomorrow, especially knowing I have to talk to the lady already in the team and try not to make it sound like I'm going to be checking up on her, but supporting her instead. Should be fun as I'm not always the most tactile person at saying things! I call a spade a spade and don't like to pussyfoot around, according to BF!
Wish me luck xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Hi, hope you've had a nice weekend!
We went to visit my bestie and her husband in Wellingborough this weekend and it was lovely. We had a takeaway which they paid for as it is my birthday later on this week, had a few drinks, watched a movie and just chatted, it was really nice. Then this morning we went to 'spoons for breakfast which me and bestie used to do once a month when we both lived in Yorkshire and it cost the grand sum of £14.95 for me and BF and has kept us full for the rest of the day. Got home just after lunch today and have chilled out this afternoon.
I then checked my mortgage account and found my 10% allowance had reset for the year, so a payment of £1099.74 has been made and the mortgage is now £48,200.00. Getting to £45k by the end of the year seems more doable now with my payrise, so fingers crossed.
The first week of my new job went well, although I found myself bringing work home to do in the evenings, but I want to get on top of things before my new administrator starts and I have to step away from my work to train her. All very positive though, so I'm happy 🙂
We just have this week to work and then we're off on holiday to Suffolk for a week. Really looking forward to a break as it has been so full on the first half of this year. Even got the suitcase and the food box out already to start adding to!
Have a great week 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

We're on holiday!!
We're staying with the dogs in a lovely little chalet on the Suffolk coast, it's the 3rd time staying on this particular site and the 2nd time in the same chalet. We love it here. It's very dog friendly, quiet and within a stone's throw of a dog friendly beach. We were chatting to the neighbours the other day and they live on the site for 11 months of the year and their experience has made us think about buying a chalet here.
Buying our perfect house back home would be at least £220k, whereas a 3 bed chalet here is half the price. Would it better to buy a chalet, use it whenever we want and rent it out the rest of the time for an income or buy a place back home, which would mortgage us to the hilt and mean no early retirement? It's starting to seem a no brainer for us and especially for quality of life.
Lots to think about!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

That sounds like a very similar conclusion to the one we’re coming to - stay put and have options or have a huge mortgage forever. I think it depends on the downsides to where you live (I’m still not 100% sold on not moving in the foreseeable future, but I think it’s the right decision for us - more money for other things/FI etc.)
Enjoy your holiday!!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
