Hope everyone is having a lovely jubilee weekend.

I went into work for a few hours yesterday, just to get a bit more caught up. I won't get paid for it, but it was for my own peace of mind more than anything. I'm hoping it might have a good effect when I go for the interview for my promotion soon though. Dedicated to cause and all that!

The mortgage is at £49,150.15 after the interest was added on and then my normal payment taken off for June. I'm tempted to round it down but I'm going to leave it until my 10% allowance resets on the 28th June and then pay off £1k. This will save me an early repayment charge and also reduce my monthly amount.

I've claimed £12.50 from panelbase.net this week which will go towards one of my nephews birthday presents in a few days.

Not a lot else to report really!

    Have a great weekend x

Good luck! And congratulations on the promotion being made official - I know your employers have been a bit iffy in the past, so it’s great that they’ve finally recognised your contributions.

    We're on holiday!!

We're staying with the dogs in a lovely little chalet on the Suffolk coast, it's the 3rd time staying on this particular site and the 2nd time in the same chalet. We love it here. It's very dog friendly, quiet and within a stone's throw of a dog friendly beach. We were chatting to the neighbours the other day and they live on the site for 11 months of the year and their experience has made us think about buying a chalet here.

Buying our perfect house back home would be at least £220k, whereas a 3 bed chalet here is half the price. Would it better to buy a chalet, use it whenever we want and rent it out the rest of the time for an income or buy a place back home, which would mortgage us to the hilt and mean no early retirement? It's starting to seem a no brainer for us and especially for quality of life.

    Lots to think about!

That sounds like a very similar conclusion to the one we’re coming to - stay put and have options or have a huge mortgage forever. I think it depends on the downsides to where you live (I’m still not 100% sold on not moving in the foreseeable future, but I think it’s the right decision for us - more money for other things/FI etc.)

     Enjoy your holiday!!
