Enjoy your holiday Jessy
The big question with the chalet would the site fees. Fees can sometimes exceed the rent on similar sized houses!3 -
As SSS stated, site fees can sometimes be onerous and would negate any money made on renting it out. Also some sites expect a certain level of upkeep and that can be costly. Would you be buying from the site owner? If so, you may only be able to sell back to them, or they take a cut of what you sell it for. Not trying to rain on your parade, but do check everything out.Mortgage Free November 2018

Hi I would spend a good bit of time researching the resale market for the chalet, the prices can be quite unstable and convenants onerous. (I originally come from a seaside village with a large number of holiday chalets and we see a lot of short ownerships and resales at a loss ☹️) , the local market for other properties has gone ballistic but the chalets haven’t increased much in price in the last couple of decades..3

Thanks for the advice everyone. This is certainly not something that's going to happen overnight and won't until the mortgage on our house is paid off completely, so that's at least 3 years to get proper research done and a lot can happen in that time too! 🙂

The holiday has come to an end, but we had a lovely time. We were very lucky with the weather and didn't have any rain, the chalet we stayed in was really nice and made us want our own, we had a nice time at BFs friends wedding and because we were close to BFs family we saw them too and the dogs were spoilt rotten and loved it. All the washing has been done and put away and we are all ready to go back work tomorrow. A lot of the money we spent was given to me for my birthday, so not a lot of damage to the current account.
Yesterday I went and grabbed my laptop from work and was able to catch up a bit, so I have a head start on tomorrow. My new administrator starts tomorrow, so I want to spend as much time with her as I can, the quicker I get her trained up, the quicker I can get on top of customer complaints, as the lady who took over from me is struggling, unfortunately.
Not a lot else to report. I can't make any further payments to the mortgage until later in the month, with the cost of living rising I need to reassess finances and the cost of things. The shopping seems to have risen quite a bit this week. I'm starting to think my pay rise isn't really going to benefit me for a while with the cost of everything going up, but I am grateful for it, as I know there are a lot of people worse off than us.
Stay frosty everyone 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Haven't posted for a while, but haven't had a lot to report.
Work is ticking over nicely and home life too. We've had a few busy weekends, including a wedding, but I was able to dig out of the wardrobe a dress I hadn't worn in a while and was very forgiving with the fit, so no money needed to be spent on a new outfit.
The mortgage is at £47,200. My goal is to get under £47k by the end of the year, which is in the bag. My super goal is under £45k so I'm going to start working towards that. Although, I need to start looking at Christmas presents soon and get started. After last year, I did make a decision to cut a few family members off the list and they will just get a card instead.
Have a great week 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Now time to work on my super target of getting under £45K by the end of the year , fingers crossed.
Work have offered to put me on a managerial course, which I have said yes to. Not going to turn down a free qualification!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
