It is, I feel rescues seem to have unrealistic expectations for homes, you must not work and have a huge garden with a 6ft fence etc. Our dogs are incredibly well looked after with 4 walks a day, treats, days out, plenty of toys and play time, lots of cuddles and love, heck they even come on holiday with us! But because we don't tick the boxes on their list we are not considered suitableMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Whilst normally I would add to the plea for rescues many have very few dogs at the moment and the ones that have are often not rehoming due to restrictions. If you dont get the puppy and can bear to wait I am sure that things normalise ( yes I believe they will at some point) and there will be loads that have to be rehomed as people will return to work, los their jobs etc. It took us about two years to find the right border Collie after our last one died. If you do go the rescue route try smaller ones as they can oftren be more accommodating to individual cicumstances. I used to work with one so know it can be difficult but even we refused a lady in her 80s who couldnt walk other than around the house but wanted a puppy!!

We were refused a cat years ago from the rescue centre that is in our actual street, they said it was not an ideal location as it’s busy!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all have a lovely day!
We've had a bit of a tough few days, BFs mum threw a tantrum because they're in tier 4 and we couldn't go stay as planned, she said BF couldn't be bothered and that I was stopping him by putting my family first. As you can imagine we were very upset and BF told her so. Yesterday when BF took boyo home he stopped by to see his parents, his mum profusely apologised, which is the first time ever she hasn't played the victim, but I told BF she gets one more chance because she has ruined our Christmas and this isn't the first stunt she's pulled!
On a happier note after trawling another ton of rescue sites, I found a 2 year old whippet x greyhound that needs a loving home, after chatting to the lady at the rescue, she was ok with us not having a garden as long as there is somewhere local where he can have a good run, which we have plenty of and was demonstrated by me sending videos of dog 2 running around our local park like a bat out of hell. We are hopefully going to see him tomorrow! He could be our Christmas miracle after a rubbish year!
Take care and stay safe xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough few days. Hadn’t considered the lack of garden/rescue issue, so annoying that they don’t take experience and individual circumstances into consideration! But so glad you’ve found a possible new dog!Merry Christmas!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
