That's a great annual update Jessy! I hope you're really pleased with your progress - it's impressive!

I think being positive and grateful for the things you have really helps with contentedness. :)

Thanks ladies! I'm very pleased with my progress and I think I'm on course to be paid off or at least in the last £10k when I turn 40 in 6 years.

You're so right, vix. I need to stop thinking about what I haven't got and appreciate everything I do have! I'm going to take a leaf out of your book and start doing a list of things to be grateful for in a day.

    1. A nice cup of tea brought to me in bed this morning.
    2. BF bought me a cheese and tomato swirl from the shop which was delicious!
    3. Cuddling with the doggies and BF while chilling out watching tv.
    4. Money to be able to make a £150.10 overpayment today.
Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!

Thanks greent and SC! I'm happy he won't have to go through any horrible procedures now and my savings account won't take so much of a hit. It's cost nearly £500 altogether with the blood tests and tablets, which is a big difference from the £3k it was going to cost with the biopsy and MRI.
He's just had his first tablet covered in some strawberry jam to make it go down easier! He's now snoozing away on our bed!

It's definitely made me think about pet insurance. I thinks it's good if you can only pay a small amount a month and don't have savings but if you do I'm not sure the expense is worth it, especially for them to turn around and say you're not covered for that, as so many insurance companies do.

Great news Jessy! So glad he’s going to be OK and it’s not going to cost a fortune.

I think it depends on the cover provided with insurance. If a pet is diagnosed with an ongoing illness that requires medication for life (eg diabetes), having cover that will pay for that can make a huge difference. A friend was in that situation and didn’t have insurance and it cost a fortune. So it can be worth it - it is peace of mind. I think liability insurance for dogs is also probably a good idea as you can be held liable, but I don’t know as I’ve never had a dog!
