I would love to make long term plans but knowing we will move at some point and being self employed makes it tricky to plan. In the meantime it’s just a case of throwing money into mortgage, pension and investments. Looked at Rightmove last night and there were some nice houses in it, but the thought of trying to get house in market at the moment fills me with dread!newgirly said:Morning Jessy, I think it’s already been announced that furlough will still be at 80% , but from August the employer will have to contribute to paying it , but with a strong possibility you can go back part time so that could be helpful for your employer as they still have work for you?
We've had an Indian for tea tonight as it was me and BFs 2 year anniversary this week. It was pretty much free as BFs mum gave him £25 for his and boyo's food but it covered most of mine too with just a fiver to pay. It was yummy!!
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

I am dreadful at maths, but there is only one simple sum you need to remember:
Spend as little as possible + Save as much as you can = Happy days 😀

Afternoon MSEs!
£5.44 cashed out of prolific this morning and a couple more surveys completed to get me started on the next one. A few done on other survey sites too.
Went to see my grandparents yesterday as my nan has a new pay as you go SIM in her phone that she couldn't get working. Turned out she hadn't put any money on it yet and therefore couldn't make any calls! I had her leave everything in the conservatory with some wipes so I could clean before and after. We then talked through the closed sliding door. I really wanted to hug them!! She gave me a jigsaw that she had completed, so that I could do it too but now I'm back at work, I'm not sure when I'll get the time.
I took the washing round to my parent's house yesterday, making use of their washing line to dry it. It smells fresher and saves me electric by not having the dryer on!
BF and I were talking about my birthday at the end of June, as I don't want anything he has offered to give me some money to make an overpayment to the mortgage, that made me very happy!

Yay for BF! Great that you're on the same page with money, it must make things so much easier.

She was trying to ring my brother to get some eggs from his chickens but couldn't! She'd even bought a voucher to put money on the phone but couldn't find the number to call to use it (it was printed on the voucher!) Personally I don't think she'd put her specs on! 😂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Morning guys!
The interest has been added onto the mortgage, the good news is that it is now under £200 a month! The new balance is £66,189.68. I've done an overpayment of £39.68 this morning. When my normal payment comes off next week, even with the interest added on, I won't go back over £66k! Woohoo! Another box checked off the chart, I just need to be patient enough to wait until Monday to do it!
We should get our wage slips today, I've been told I might not get my two weeks of 100% pay until next month so cross your fingers for me!

Happy weekend people!
I've checked the mortgage and they've taken off my OP and the normal amount already, so the new balance is £65,796.79. I've made a small OP of £46.79 today to round it down to £65,750 and crossed the £66k box off the chart! Woohoo! BF asked me how much money I want for my birthday to OP, I jokingly said 'A thousand pounds so I can cross off another box, please' 😂 In all seriousness the smallest amount can make a huge difference, the small OP I did today will save me £59 in interest in the future, so to quote the famous supermarket, every little helps!
I started to look for my home insurance today as the renewal is due 28th June. I found one for £30 cheaper than this year's! I went through to the company website and was about to pay when I was told I couldn't go any further online and needed to call them. 45 minutes later it turns out I can't get the insurance because there is an open claim from my current provider dated August 2019. Another half hour on the phone to my current provider and they can see an open claim but no details or amounts, err.... yeah cos I've never made a claim!!! I now have to wait until Monday to be contacted by another team who can remove it. Why is nothing ever simple?! They also cannot match the price of the new quote so I definitely want to switch provider.
I got the correct wages from work so that was nice but they have now decided that everyone can't keep all of their holidays to take for the rest of the year, so you will get what you accrued in the furlough in next month's wages. This means that I will lose 2 days holiday to take but get paid for those two days at the end of the month. That's fine with me, I still have 10 days to take and will have 2 full weeks off over Christmas. We won't be going anywhere on holiday which is a shame but the money saved can go into OPs and savings, so we will be in an even better position financially. BF is still furloughed so I do still want to be careful with money anyway.
Have a lovely weekend x

Happy weekend guys!
It's been a long week! Boyo went home on Tuesday after staying with us for a month. BF said it was the longest he's ever had him and I was happy that he was happy. That being said, it is nice to have some space back! It certainly made us realise that we need a second bedroom and the importance of getting this mortgage paid off and money in savings for our next home. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that's going to happen for some time. Our weekly update from work highly implied redundancies are on the way. Even though I'm back at work I was the last one in and my line of thought was 'last one in, first one out' After expressing my concerns to my supervisor she has put my mind at ease a bit by saying that with the work I do, I shouldn't worry. BF on the other hand is still on furlough with no indication of when or if he will be able to go back. We can survive on my wage, we have done before but it means only small overpayments and small savings amounts. I can only hope that we'll both get through this with our jobs intact.
In more positive news, our home insurance for the next year is sorted with it being cheaper than last year. Our shopping bill has gone down now boyo has gone home. It's not that he was eating us out of house and home, just that the extra amount you had to buy to make portions for three people soon added up. I got to see my nephews for the first time in months after I had to drop the eldest one's birthday present and card round. I will hopefully see them again tomorrow when I drop the middle one's birthday card and present round (my brother and SIL were very inconsiderate when having my nephews, with all three having their birthdays within a month!😂)
My mum has offered to wash our bedding for us, as we use her washing line to dry it. She says if she has it, she can wait for a nice day and wash it and dry it in one day for us! Bless her! I said no because I don't want to take advantage of her, the whole point of me moving home was to help look after her with her MS! BF said we should because she's bored and she wants to do something for us because she does stuff for my brother and nephews. Maybe he's right (don't tell him I said that! 😂)
Not a lot else to report, just keep on keeping on!
