Hi, I’ve just managed to get flour from our corner shop. They have bagged up from larger catering bags. I normally bake and I was getting a bit low. My zinnias have also come through 😁SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86[/COLOUR]:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)4

Happy baking hetty! Yay to the zinnias! I've decided to leave mine on the window cill for a bit longer before planting them in the flower trough and basket, don't want a late frost getting them. I will only do half anyway, that many have come up that I've offered the other half to my parents.
I cashed out £5 on pinecone research after a survey done today. I'm at £4.96 on prolific so hopefully another survey will be approved shortly and I can cashout from there too. Need to focus on swagbucks now, I've let it slip the past few days. I've also started streaming me playing video games again (I've done it on and off for the past couple of years and it's always been a good way to make an extra few quid, it's just hardwork. Yes, that's right, people will pay to watch other people play video games!) I have a mic and webcam set up and I play on my PC and broadcast to people all over the world. I don't tell many people in real life as a lot just think it's ridiculous but you guys are a lot less judgy! You get paid when you get to £100 and I'm just over half way there so I should have a payment come into my PayPal in the next few months. I love video games and if I can make money from playing them then why not!
Lunch was jacket potato with cheese and beans. Tea, pasta bake and garlic bread, accompanied with a cool, refreshing cider. Yummy!
Take care and stay safe x

OMG, that's insane! I'm intruiged! Can they see what's on your screen, or just you? I wonder if people would pay to watch me laying on the sofa watching telly and drinking 😂???
You've also made me really want jacket potato with cheese and beans! That's normally a treat for BF's place, as I am completely useless with graters 😦Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

They can see the game you're playing as you play it and you have a live chat up so you can talk to people while playing. Funnily enough there is a 'just chatting' section for people who do just sit, talk and eat! You can't watch tv though or play certain music due to copyright. It's been fun and I've met some good friends from around the world
Definitely make jacket potato with cheese and beans but maybe do slices instead of grated 😂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Thanks for reading SC and showing an interest, I appreciate it
I've cashed out £5.60 from prolific and it's gone straight in the emergency fund. There's another £4 waiting approval as well so hopefully I'll have another cash out shortly.
BF now has my cold so it'll be lazy day with soup for lunch and pizza for tea.
We got a weekly update from work yesterday saying that they will be reopening the factory shortly with a skeleton staff to keep the self distancing rules in place. Neither BF or I have been contacted directly so we're assuming this doesn't include us but we'll see if we hear anything further. I'm not sure how much longer the 80% pay furlough will continue but in the meantime I will try my best to save as much money as possible and I am looking at job sites just in case. We live in a rural area and with the news saying about farmers needing workers, that could possibly be an option for us if we do lose our jobs. I know a farmer in the village so I will contact him if needs be and he might be able to put us in touch with someone that needs help, if they'll have us!

I'm also wary of running stocks down too low at the mo - partly because things may still not be in the shop when I go, partly because what happens if we get it and can't get to shops for supplies and partly because there's 6 of us - and that just equates to a lot of food anyway!
I sadly suspect that a lot of the panic-buying supplies will end up being wasted - people may have dusted off their breadmakers/ got out their cake tins etc but to carry on doing it for many when it doesn't taste/ look the same as shop stuff (tastes way better imo) and the faff in making it/ cleaning it up.... I can see a lot of bags of flour ending up in the bin, let alone other foodstuffs. I've got my flour from a very local (approx. 1.5miles away) micro-bakery at the mo - bit more expensive than the s'mkt but I'm supporting a small business who in turn is being supplied directly by a local-ish mill (they are prioritising micro bakery customers ahead of retail) so it's a 'Good Thing' overall
Where do you stream the game-playing to? - I suspect my 20yo DS1 may be interested in that - currently back from uni (where he's a committee member of the gaming soc) and can't do his usual (required for course) volunteering stuff so has rather a lot of time which is being spent on his PS4 and Switch with his new games...…
Love the cross stitch cards

Thanks greent. I felt silly saying it because it feels like I'm contributing to the panic buying but I'm only buying things I know we will definitely use like tins of soup and beans. My mum loves to bake so I'm leaving it up to her and I just eat what she makes 😂 That's good of you to support your local bakery. It's a shame that a lot of the small places have already closed due to large supermarkets in the past few years because this has shown just how important it is to have a local shop, bakery, butcher, post office etc.
I stream on a platform called Twitch. You don't have to pay to sign up and watch people play or stream yourself, there's just the option to pay a subscription to your favourite streamers, donate money to them or cheer them bits (1 bit = 1 cent). I'm sure your son would enjoy it.

Your video gaming sound intriguing Jessy, and yes, not a bad thing to be doing at the minute given the circumstances!
I don't think you're being silly over food at all. I think it's sensible to make sure you have enough provisions in to last a little while given the circumstances - as greent says, we don't know when we're going to be forced to stay in ourselves, perhaps through illness or something. Mr Cheery and I were talking about this again this morning. As he said, there's been an awful lot of vitriol directed at so-called 'panic buyers' but actually most people have been behaving perfectly rationally given the circumstances - (we were told to minimise trips, prepare to be ill for a couple of weeks etc). Of course there were some hoarding 100 hand sanitisers and trying to charge people for them - there always will be some people like that. But most people weren't doing that, and now the supply chains have got back on a bit of an even keel, it's settled down.
I hope the extra food people bought does get used up sensibly though. It would indeed be awful if it led to a lot of wastage
