Hi Jessy, word of warning about your zinnias, they are really really really sensitive to root disturbance. I lost all mine the other year when I pricked them out and potted them on. Our local plant lady told me what had gone wrong. I plant in pots now and then just sink the whole pot into the garden. You may already know this but just in case you don’t 😉SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86[/COLOUR]:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)4

Thanks Hetty, I shall make sure I do that! I've grown zinnias before, but they were sown directly into the border in the garden as it was further on in the year and they turned out lovely!
I did use the bay of e to order some more seeds last night. I bought them from the same seller so the order came to £4.19 and it was free delivery over £4. I

The gas men are here!!!!
It finally feels like we're getting somewhere! Getting rid of the nasty electric boiler and having a nice new gas one is going to solve a lot of issues and will let me move on to doing other things, like decorating! We're in phase 1, which is getting the gas connected. Phase 2 will be getting a meter from the gas supplier and Phase 3 is getting the electric boiler removed and the gas one installed.
The only bad thing is that I have woken up with a cold. I felt a bit snotty and bunged up yesterday but today it's come out in full. I'm 99.9% sure it's not covid 19, as although I'm having a little cough here and there, it's not persistent and I don't have a fever. I just feel the usual rotten feeling of having a cold. God knows where I got it from! Today will be spent doing what mum's all over the world say to a cold 'Keep warm and drink plenty of fluids'. I might even see if I can get BF to treat me to an Indian takeaway tonight as a means of getting it out of my system
The emergency fund is at £5443. I will have this up to £5500 by the end of the month. BF has been putting the allowed £200 a month into his help to buy isa but advised he will have £800 leftover in his current account at the end of the month. Any advice as to what he could do with it? I don't suppose savings accounts are much good at the moment with the low interest rates? I'm wondering if I should ask him if he wants to make an OP to the mortgage but as it's only in my name and he has no legal rights to the house, I feel bad asking him to. I know a lot of people on here do premium bonds, are they a good idea and can you get your money instantly if you needed it back? I best do some research!
Take care and stay safe x

Woohoo to the gas men! I remember when you booked them and you were worried about roadworks upsetting the neighbours - doubt that's likely to be an issue now!
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well - hope it goes away quickly. I second the Indian takeaway for medicinal purposes... and I mean, if your BF has that much money leftover in his account, it would be rude not to treat you in your hour of need
PB have a shoddy 'interest rate', but you've always got the chance of winning big (although usually the big winners have the full 50k in there) and it's fun to check every month. It takes just under a week to retrieve the funds if you need them - so not bad, as long as you've got access to a cc for emergencies. I think I'd avoid BF OPing the mortgage for now - it might create issues down the line.

I think the act of stashing the £800 matters more than where to stash it TBH, there aren't really any decent interest rates around that will earn much on that amount. I barely get more than a few pence on my savings pots, but it's the act of moving the money into a different account that matters to me as then it becomes "special" and not to be touched!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
