Thanks Beanie xย
I can't wait, SC. It's been a long time coming!
I have been feeling a little fed up today. Its not been a bad day, its just that with it being so lovely and sunny, we're trapped in the house with the dogs again. I'm longing for a garden that we can all sit out in and enjoy ๐
The rest of the marrow got used up in some more soup. I've cleaned out the bathroom cupboard, binned some bits and then put some other giftsets that we're not going to use in a bag for the thrift shop. I also did the cupboard under the sink and that's nice and tidy now. DH has put some beading down in the bathroom and sealed around that. Been meaning to do it for ages, but just not got round to it, then at work last week they were sorting out some window beading that was no longer needed and so I asked if I could have it. It had already been painted white and has done a smashing job! Looks a lot neater in there now.ย
DH is cooking a curry now, it smells delicious and I've just realised how hungry I am ๐
Back to work tomorrow but DH is off as plumber is coming to service the boiler, it was ยฃ60 last year so I'm thinking around the same this year, budgeted for anyway.Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 ยฃ11,700

Thanks stripey ๐ Yes we are. We're so close to having it paid off now that we might as well and also it gives us more options. We could decide to keep it and rent it out or it won't hold us back when it comes to how much we are allowed to borrow.Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 ยฃ11,700

Thanks greent ๐ Hopefully Christmas! Me and DH had a chat and he has nearly ยฃ14k in savings and by the time Christmas is here, he will be nearing ยฃ20k, so we said that if i can get the mortgage down to ยฃ7k, he will then give me the rest to pay it off out of his savings. Then when i sell our current place, I will give him the ยฃ7k back. It means that come January we can both start chucking everything into savings ready for a deposit for a new place, hopefully by next summer ๐

Two cleaning jobs down, three to go and that will be ยฃ100 earnt this week. With getting paid on Friday as well that'll be a nice overpayment to the mortgage. August interest got added today and it is down to ยฃ58.25 for the month. I'm thinking an op of ยฃ1158.25 on Friday and that will take the new total to ยฃ12,300. That's going to be the plan anyway!
Boiler was serviced yesterday and needed a small replacement part so cost ยฃ85. Shopping was delivered yesterday as well, which DH dealt with as he had the day off work.ย
Had a bit of a chat with a cleaning customer yesterday, basically I cleaned for his mum first, she was a lovely lady and sadly passed away earlier this year. I was quite upset at this because she was a friend of my nan's and we had what she called 'good bants'. Anyway, her bungalow is for sale and he thinks we should buy it! It's up for ยฃ165k a 2 bed, detached bungalow. It's on a quiet cul de sac, it's 5 doors away from my parents, has a nice front garden, a nice long drive and an ok sized back garden. The only problem I have with it is the conservatory and back entrance to the garden is through the second bedroom. My parents was the same layout so they had the second bedroom and kitchen swapped around so that the back entrance into the garden was through the kitchen instead. I'd want to do this as well. I would say we could have that done and buy it , all for under ยฃ180k. It's definitely food for thought, it is a lovely bungalow, but would I always think of it as his mum's bungalow, if you see what I mean and ideally I would like 3 bedrooms and a bigger garden but of course that comes with a bigger price tag.ย
So now I'm thinking, do we take something less than perfect for a smaller mortgage, less time to take to pay it off and therefore can enjoy life more and possibly an early retirement or do we push ourselves to have what we would think of as the perfect place but then have to work harder and longer to pay it off? ๐คMortgage Balance as of September 2025 ยฃ11,700
