Work and a cleaning job done. DH is teaching his Karate classes tonight, so I had pizza for tea when I got home.
I won a £5 ecard on the postcode lottery, not exactly the knock on the door with the giant cheque that I would like, but better than nothing! I have picked a morrisons one as that's where we do our shopping.
Getting very eager for payday tomorrow and to make my overpayment to the mortgage. £250 will be going into savings to get that to £900 as well.
Nothing planned for the weekend really. I do need to get a bag of compost as I have some house plants to repot. I need to split and repot some cacti which I can't say I'm looking forward to 😅

Ouch to the cacti 😳! That sounds like a well thought out decision on the bungalow, if it's for you it'll wait for you xMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Leaving it to fate is a good decision if you are unsure, you haven’t got long to wait now and you will be MF! 😊MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4

I would say it's not about being MF, if it was your dream house and you were desperate to live there, you'd break that goal in an instance. You obviously don't have the feels for this house, you know it well enough, so maybe it's just not the one for you. I think with a house you usually get a gut feeling if it's the one for you. It might be a sensible choice, but it doesn't tick all your boxes and you have time to find one more aligned with you.Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

@Bargainhunter30 I think you're right, I really like Mary's bungalow but don't love it. I think it's because I really want 3 bedrooms and a fair sized garden. Do I really need that? No, but I don't really want a lot else in life in other ways, I'm not a big clothes shopper, brands don't bother me, I don't need lots of flashy things or to go out every night or have expensive holidays, but I do want this. Does that make sense?
Having a look at what ideally I would like in a home, there's currently 3 Bungalows on the market in our village that tick the box, one is £210,000, another £214,995 and lastly £230,000. These would all be within our budget. The last one needs no work doing and is the one I like the most. We will see what next year brings. Things might change, what I want might change and as I say if something is meant to be, it's meant to be. 🙂Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700

I think you are right to leave it personally. When my mum passed a few people asked if I was going to buy her bungalow but it would always be her house not mine no matter what I did to it. My best friend has recently felt the same about her parents and grandma’s properties she’s had to sell following their passing a couple of years ago.

Your home is a very important place and although there will be some compromise when you buy a home you should also have a lot ticked on the wish list.
You've worked incredibly hard to get to this position and it seems the full house package is within reach financially if your patient.
Next year will be here before we know it 🏡

Thanks hetty and ck x
Last cleaning job of the week done yesterday. I repotted my cacti (I wore two pairs of gardening gloves and still ended up with a needle in my finger!) and they look good in their new pots which were a freebie, I just hope they survive the move 🙂
I was a bit naughty yesterday. When I checked the mortgage the DD for September was already showing as being taken off and the new total was £12,207.10, so I may have taken some money out of my savings and paid off £307.10 to make the new total £11,900. It meant I was able to tick off two boxes from my chart. Im going to blame DH because he encouraged me to do it and I'm weak 😅
My savings is now at £600. I will make sure it is upto £1000 by the end of the year though!Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
