Thanks everyone ❤️ Painkillers are doing their thing and I'm back at the hospital tomorrow to have my dressings changed and check all is healing well. I am getting a bit bored though because I can't do a lot, my skin is sore and tight and I can only wear baggy clothes so I've mainly just been in my nighty for the past couple of days! I did put some baggy clothes on today to take the dogs out for a short walk, but was tuckered out afterwards!
Dog 1 had a vet visit tonight which DH took her to. We found a lump on her side last week and as she is 10, we thought it could be bad. Thankfully it is just a lipoma, which is a fatty lump common in older dogs, so nothing to worry about. She did need some more of her other medication so that was £90 gone in a matter of minutes. Me and DH have split the bill.
I did make myself useful today in that Dog 3's insurance renewal came through and had doubled in price, even though we haven't claimed 😡 Got straight on the comparison site and Dog 1 is with the Co op so I have gone with the same for Dog 3 and only £5 more than what we were paying previously. When I rang tesco to cancel the renewal the woman on the phone didn't seem surprised when I said we were leaving because the price had doubled and just apologised.

Ouch!! Gosh, sorry about your injuries. I confess I am guilty of being permanently attached to a hot water bottle, and I do usually use boiling water 🙈 Fortunate never to have had an incident (mine have always leaked rather than burst) but I know it's only a matter of time. Will be more diligent!
Hope you can get your corsetry back on soon!3 -
Thanks cheery and yes, please do check them more often, it is worth it!
I had my dressings changed yesterday morning and I'm healing well. I have another dressing change tomorrow and then Wednesday next week. I'm not allowed to get them wet, so strip wash it is and bending over the bath to do my hair. I can't wait to be able to have a proper shower again!
I've been working from home yesterday and today, plenty to catch up on. I also got told by my boss that he was a bit hasty back in May when I got moved from the job I enjoyed and into my current role or face redundancy. The MD wants more doing on the job I enjoyed, so my boss has now realised he shouldn't have moved me out of that position 🙄 They are now advertising for someone for my current role, so that I can go back to the job I enjoyed. Its good news but I won't get too excited until I'm back doing what I enjoy. It would also have the added bonus of getting away from horrid co worker, so fingers crossed it does happen. 🤞
We're having a Chinese for tea tonight as MIL sent us some money for our anniversary. Two days late i might add, because she'd "forgotten" and only knew because someone had told her about the post I'd put on Facebook. Oh well, it's better than nothing and I shouldn't be ungrateful, but DH is the middle child and certainly lives up to the stereotype of the middle child being the forgotten child 🤣Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Happy Anniversary Jessy, enjoy that takeaway 😊 my dh is a middle child and is also the classic example of it, Mil never calls him by his name it’s always, older sons name, younger sons name then dh’s name, every time 😆
Fingers crossed it all works out at work and you can leave the horrid colleague behind, that’s reason for celebration! Take care and I hope you are not in too much pain xMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
Thanks NG ❤️
Yesterday I had my dressings changed again. All healing well still, no infection and instead of special burns dressings, I got normal waterproof ones, which means I got to have a proper shower this morning! Woohoo!! No more strip washes or having to bend over the bath awkwardly to wash my hair! It felt soooooo good 🤣
As I'm still having to rest, our trip to the hospital was all we did yesterday. I did however do some online retail therapy. I bought some jubilee clips to put on the waste pipe from the washing machine as ours doesn't have one and hasn't done since it was fitted back in 2019 and when plumber came to do the boiler the other week, he was looking under the sink and saw it and was quite surprised we haven't had a mishap already. Will get one fitted as soon as they arrive as I'm a bit paranoid about using the WM now. I also bought us a new quilt as we haven't had a new one since we moved in. How often are you supposed to replace quilts anyway? We've had ours just over 5 years, it's perhaps a little worn but that's it. I've bought a new one so I can at least rotate them instead of having to wash and dry in the same day. Then it is DHs 40th birthday in October and I keep asking what he wants and get 'I don't know' as a reply, but he did mention last week that he would like to read more, but as I tend to fall asleep first he doesn't want to turn his bedside lamp on in case he wakes me up, so I thought a kindle would be a nice idea and I ordered the compact one off amazon. If he doesn't like it (I'm sure he will) but if he doesn't then I'll nab it 🤣 All ordered on the credit card but will be paid off when we get paid on Friday this week.
Payday also means £1k off the mortgage day, so I'm super excited about that.
Now heres a question for you, my MSE friends: DH has got his car to pay off in November and has the money saved up for that already and then plans on saving the money that would have been used for the car payments, so that by the time I pay off the mortgage in about 2 years, he will have a nice deposit ready towards a new house. Do you think this is a good idea OR I suggested, giving some of that money to me to over pay the mortgage so that it gets paid off in say 18 months instead? I can't help thinking if he does that and the mortgage gets paid off even sooner then I can save all the extra money that I would have used on the mortgage and we would have a better deposit.
It's a difficult one because the mortgage is just in my name but I think now that we're married, that doesn't really matter anyway and I'm not asking for him to give me all the money he would save just a bit of it ( he thinks he could save around £1k a month and I'm thinking just £200 of that would make a huge difference to paying off the mortgage sooner). What do you think? TIA ❤️Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
