It's been a very spend month here. My dad's 60th was at the beginning of the month so that was £50, DH then had his birthday which was £100 and we also went out for a meal which was £75. We had the emergency vet visit of £85 for dog 1 and then dogs 2 and 3 needed their annual boosters, £120. We've also been a bit naughty with takeaways this month and have had 3 instead of just our 1 a month. Oh and a haircut at £37.50. It doesn't happen very often but it's made me feel a little deflated as I was hoping to pay some more off the mortgage and even get a couple of Christmas presents. Perhaps being too hard on myself though, we do need to live our lives as well!
In better news I started my new job role for two days a week last week and really enjoyed it. That means my new pay has come into affect, so when I get paid this Friday it will be half of my old pay and half my new pay, which is great, as it's a bit extra coming in already.
I've been streaming this weekend as well, so hopefully a payout from that should come in November. I also got gifted a horror game to play for Halloween, can't wait to play that, not! 😅

Well done with keeping the focus - I have also had a spendy month with birthdays
I really want a dog but I don’t miss vet billsDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks LWAP. Birthdays tend to be like buses don't they? All come at once!
Dogs are expensive, as well as the vet bills we do have insurance for all three that we pay out every month, but I don't have kids and they mean the world to me. Also, with two of the three being rescues we make sure they get the best life we could possibly give them, albeit an expensive one 😅Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Happy Sunday!
Hope everyone's had a good week?
Payday was on Friday, so £516.44 put towards the mortgage and the balance is now £39,100. After the usual DD comes out on the 1st November it will be under £39k!
DH had to renew his drivers license, so we had a trip into town yesterday. I did buy us breakfast at spoons and then some treats for the dogs, so not a no spend trip, but I was able to use a boots voucher I got for my birthday to stock up on shower gels and hand creams which will last a while. The rest of the day and most of today i spent streaming, so hopefully there will be a pay out mid November.
Still no Christmas presents bought. I just can't think what to get people! I will have to send a few messages and just get what people want. I know it's not a surprise then but I'd rather get what people actually want than waste my money on something they don't. I'm finding that as I get older I still enjoy Christmas but can't be doing with the buying of presents and would be quite happy not to receive any if it meant I didn't have to buy any! I just want to eat the food and enjoy the time off work 😂

We have cut down on extended family again this year, it’s a lot easier! I love a secret Santa 😁 Glad the doggie is ok now, they are not cheap are they but what can you do! I often think how lucky the cats are healthcare wise, I wait weeks for a GP appointment, they usually see the vet the same day 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Thanks for the comments and glad to hear I'm not the only one who is cutting down 🙂
My parents have told me what they would like, so I have ordered theirs now. My brother feels the same as me so we're not buying for each other and I will just give my 3 nephews some money and a selection box. My 87yo grandad, who is now on his own since my nan passed away earlier this year, has bought himself an air fryer, so I'm going to buy him a 'simple air fryer receipes' book and then theres only a couple left to buy. Oh and DH! Mustn't forget him 😂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
