Just saw this and thought of you straight away. Something to apply for next Christmas perhaps
"Elves
It’s not top of many people’s dream jobs, but a new academy has opened in Finland to train Santa’s elves. This is a genuine story. Finland claims ownership of the home of the “real” Father Christmas, and now you can apply to work sorting letters, working with tourists, and packing gifts. However, it’s no walk in the park. To graduate as an elf with an official certificate, you need to learn survival skills, be hot on customer service and story telling, be competent in languages, and have a good knowledge of wildlife.
Jobs in the elf industry are strongly contested, with Lapland having a higher than average rate of unemployment, and a local economy that relies heavily on Santa related tourism. Around 500,000 tourists visit the area every year which has average winter temperatures of minus 10 to minus 15 degrees Celsius.
The elves are also trained in how to deflect difficult questions about Santa and inconsistencies in his legend. One piece of information you might not know which comes straight from the elf’s mouth is that the reason the elves working in Lapland are actually quite tall rather than little people is that they have to be able to see above the plentiful snow. I admit I didn’t know that, although now I do, it makes perfect sense.
If that sounds like your dream job, send your application in to Lapland and good luck".
Sorry to hi-jack your diary Pania by leaving messages for someone else on it!
I hope you are OK yourself today. It's lovely that you had some quality time with DP the other day. It's obvious how much you love him.
take care

Hope the move went well Z, was it a bigger move, smaller move, away from home move or just a "sod it i fancy a new gaff" kinda move? hope that you are settling in well and that box you are using as a tea table will be unpacked soon!:D
It was a "despite you having filled in a form saying you want to stay on, the landlord only wanted it to be let for six months and nobody said anything as you wouldn't have touched the property with a barge pole and that would have meant no money" kind of move...
OTOH, the landlord and family have moved back, and they're going to have problems. The doors don't close, the paintwork is cheap and shoddy, it's very small, and although he has two small girls (it's only a 2 bedder) it has a wood-burning stove. I've burnt myself a number of times on it - and I'm careful - so God knows what it going to happen to them."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

ooooooh, one of THOSE kinda moves. Thats not good. Hope you've found something Bigger, Nicer, Better painted, door closing and without a human burning stove which means you can give the keys back to the landlord and chortle at their misfortune at loosing such a good tennant (sp?) all i can say is they'd better have given your deposit back!!!!!debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Well guys, I am sat here on my first night home alone of three while Oh goes to his consecutive christmas doo's. feeling a bit in the dumps to be honest, I wanna play!!!!
But here is the plan to keep me cheery. I have a bottle of incredibly dodgy rose wine in the fridge and am popping to canary wharf to see my old work buddies then on to bluewater (get paid tomorrow thus christmas shopping!) so this is the plan for the evening,
Sit here and do some work so i don't feel so guilty about sneaking off tomorrow.
Open said bottle of vino and attack the housework big stylee while listening to cheesy christmas songs on music tv.
By the way, has anyone any idea why classic FM TV has been removed from the sky music channels? call me sad, call me mad that at my delicate age(ish) I love listening to classical music! but it has gone, total, finito and i've no idea why, and all those chrimbo carols and concerts are being denied me GAAAHHHHH!!!! :rotfl:
right come on P back to work for half hour then FUNTIME!!!!:Ddebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
managed to survive work without collapsing in a heap of tears, well not in front of the office anyway. Sent my boss an email (she's off today) much 'easier' to tell her what's going on that way.
Got our forms to fill in for our jobs, turned out they didn't change my grade just the ones of 5 others in the department so fun all the way.
looks like we won't get back dated rise till Feb but at least we'll get it which is a bonus.
can't wait to hear how your OH survived 3 nights out on £4, even i would find that hard and i don't drink!0 -

It was a pain in the bot end...Hope you've found something Bigger, Nicer, Better painted, door closing and without a human burning stove
I liked the stove - nothing like watching real flames. This one has a gas fire that's neither use nor ornament. Burning yourself is an occupational hazard - but nothing to worry about.which means you can give the keys back to the landlord and chortle at their misfortune at loosing such a good tennant (sp?) all i can say is they'd better have given your deposit back!!!!!
They say they are - I await the cheque with a fair amount of cynicism..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
