And don't forget the carbs and the syns! How long ago did you go to SW? There have been some changes, although not major. Do ask if you have any questions. :)
2 years ago, so my book is out of date. I will go by what I see here, and use my book as a reference until I get the latest!
    Thanks!

Missli The major difference in the new plan is that you can have 2 HEAs for calcium so milk and cheese and one HEB for fibre so bread, cereal, seeds etc.

Some things like baked beans are now only Free and no longer have the P (protein symbol). Tinned spaghetti is now 0.5 syns for 100g. Flavoured yoghurts (including Muller light) are now syns but still low syn only 0.5 or 1 a tub generally.

If you use flavoured yoghurts then ask on here for the actual syns as they vary from brand to brand.

When are you planning on going to group to get the new books? Unfortunately the info at the beginning of the thread hasn't been updated to show the info about the Healthy Extras but good as a general guide.

Hi Denise, I'm happy to amend info in the opening posts, but I'm afraid you would have to tell me exactly what to amend - I've not been to group for many, many years :o and I haven't really kept up with the changes.

That's great information, and useful. I'm really reluctant to go to group. Everyone was nice, it's just I don't like being in the spotlight, so hated having to talk in front of everyone, especially when I'd had too much pizza on a Friday :D
Seriously though I will see how I get on with the book I have, now you and Tweets have updated me on the changes. What you've mentioned makes sense.

The things I wish were changed are Avocados. I absolutely love them, and they're a healthy fat, but still a fat.

It is the thing I hear time and time again, I struggled when the consultant that I joined SW left, each week someone else turned up. So I stopped and went to another group stayed and liked it....then she left and so did I - the first consultant I told her right at day one that I did not like the thought of speaking in group and if she homed in on me with questions I thought it would stop me going, she always remembered and she really knew who was willing to give feedback and who liked to keep it short and sweet. So I think you have found a great place here:)

Thanks, yes I've tried it before, and hated the meetings, although everyone was really lovely, I found myself making excuses to leave early before it was my turn to speak.:rotfl:
It was worth it for the book though. I do remember eating very well when I went there before.

Went back to group in March and found the venue folk and consultant very closed, so found another group I really like and each week I have a laugh and a chat with someone.
Plus here on MSE I have found so much help and picked up tips.

Chrisv apart from the changes I've already mentioned all peas (except split peas) no longer have the P symbol so can't be used on an SP day.

Sweetener needs to be synned if there is 1 Tbs or more per portion at 0.5 syns per Tbs.

There are some changes to the non dairy milks, eg almond milk is now only 400ml for HEA instead of 1 litre! A big difference.

It's difficult to mention all the changes as there are loads of them!

Missli it might be worth trying a different group to the one you used before. Every consultant is different. If you don't want to talk in group then just let the consultant know and he/she should respect your wishes.

For info, avocado can be synned per 30g at 2 syns so you could have half a small one for about 4 syns which isn't too bad. It would have to be quite a big avocado to be 14 syns! After all you only need to weigh the flesh not the stone or skin because you won't be eating those.

I've done something silly, but it worked before. I bought a chart for kids from Amazon, I give myself a smiley face on the days where I have been on plan. When I have enough smiley faces I will treat myself to an off meal plan :-) (Probably monthly)
I lost a lot of weight before and I need the motivation not to eat crap.

I think that's a brilliant idea charlotte. OK so you've got a chart but others have journals or other ways of visually recording progress and motivating themselves. Why not??:T

I'd say your reward system is OK if you could save syns for it. If not then you're just giving yourself a break and having extra syns. Others have a reward that's not food related, like a lipstick or flowers. But that's me, if it works for you then that's absolutely fine.:)

I always feel hungry mid morning when I've only had a breakfast of Weetbix & milk Maman. It just doesn't fill me up like porridge, scrambled eggs on toast or a fry up!

Exactly right. I only have Weetabix on WI day as it's the smallest, lightest breakfast or when we're going out for a big lunch like today.:)

From what you've said I'm assuming nothing is planned which will involve Syns after tomorrow Maman. But as they say "best laid plans" and all that!

    That's right. :)
There are no meals out in my diary for a couple of weeks. Football finishes on Sunday so that's the end of Crunchies for a few months. So fingers crossed I can get on plan seriously. I think I probably go away around the time you return from your holiday.

Lunch was good today. I chose wisely although it wasn't difficult. My friend (who isn't doing SW) chose exactly the same:Prawn cocktail starter followed by salmon with crushed potatoes and vegetables. I had wine instead of a pudding.;)There was avocado with the prawns (which works really well) and a bit of sauce but otherwise I'd say the food was very SW friendly.:rotfl:

Your lunch sounds lovely. I would probably have chosen the same. I'm quite happy to syn some avocado - it's only 2 syns per 30g so half a small one for 4 syns is worth it!

1lb off for me please Chris.
Quite pleased with that, heading in the right direction. Just 10lb to go to target, need to focus.
