What a Year.....Climbing Back on the Wagon

  • Had a fairly productive morning - did a run, just 4k but a start, sorted clothes for the week, done a big pile of ironing, sorted the insoles and played with the dogs who are now having a snooze. Have had to cancel a puppy class as I still have the other dog here :(

Going to have a good soak in the bath and do a bit of preening - defuzzing, moisturising, hair wash and proper dry (rather than letting it dry by itself and looking like I've just emerged from being lost in the jungle). Then I can't put it off any longer, I'm going to have to do a bit of school work followed, no doubt, by another dog walk.....

Might have a sit down with a bit of telly later....
  • I had to bite the bullet yesterday and get started on the planning! Well done on the 4K run.

  • Honeysuckle I feel your pain.... INSET day tomorrow and the kids back on Tuesday. I have to do a presentation to staff tomorrow - all written and ready to go now. Not teaching until Tuesday afternoon so still have a bit more time for planning although it's pretty much a repeat of the lessons I taught this time last year to different classes.
I have my first proper SLT meeting with the new head tomorrow afternoon - hope it's not too long on the first day back.
The dog walker is resuming duties tomorrow but I want to get home as soon as possible - I'm happy to work in the evenings and keep the dog company but hate being in work after the kids have gone home. Some teachers don't like to take stuff home and would rather stay and get it done but I'd rather leave, walk the dog, get some fresh air and daylight and work in the evening and on a Sunday morning. Hopefully, the new head won't mind that way of work - I'm more productive at home. We'll see....

The babysitter dog has gone home, I've cleaned through twice (as soon as his owner arrived they decided to go bonkers in the garden and ruin the freshly cleaned house :( ), I've used up leftovers for tea and taken what I think is a veggie chilli out of the freezer for tomorrow.

All ready for the new term - am actually secretly looking forward to going back to work, having something to think about, seeing more people and being busy. I'm not good with too much time on my hands. It will help the diet and new regime too.

Just watching a bit of telly then attempting an early night - I get up at 5.15am on work days to walk the dog etc before getting ready so it will be a bit of a shock to the system for me and the woofer....
7 weeks to the next week off ;)
  • That's the bit I'm not looking forward to - the 5.30 mornings! I do relish the relaxed mornings of the holidays.

  • Well, day 1 survived intact including the SLT meeting after school.
Was absolutely starving by the time I got home though so scoffed the chilli as soon as the dog was walked. Talking of the dog, I literally had to crow bar him out of bed this morning, not at all impressed by the early start bless him. Big day for him - he had his first roll in fox poo when out with the dog walker - lovely ;)
Have stuck to a healthy eating diet today and there's no wine in the house so a good start to the new regime.
Managed to get the majority of the week's lesson planning done today so less to do tonight. Going to have a nice soak in the bath and read a bit of my book - almost finished it now - Never Greener by Ruth Jones of Gavin and Stacey and Stella fame. It's a very easy read and I'm desperate to know how it ends - would recommend it for a bit of escapism. Conversely, I've been listening to a series of podcasts called Atomic Hobo - all about nuclear war and the preparations for it, sounds awful but it's very well delivered by a woman and is actually very interesting, believe it or not!

Hope all the other teachers out there have survived their first days too :)
  • Sounds like a decent first day back MT.
I struggled with a 6am start and am already showered and in my nightie with slippers and dressing gown. Autumn has appeared overnight here.
  • Positive first day here :)

  • I know what you mean Cat - I'm shattered today. The kids came back today - hectic and noisy but no real issues. Feet are killing me though.
    Glad yours went well Honeysuckle!

Have taken the dog for a good walk even though I really didn't feel like it and felt better for it afterwards. The expected spag bol I took out of the freezer turned out to be a butter bean stew but was very nice anyway. I think I've taken spag bol out for tomorrow but we'll see ;)
Have had a nice dip in the bath and read my book for a while and cleaned downstairs and tidied the kitchen and I'm ready for tomorrow with lunch prepared and clothes out. I don't think I'll last long before bed tonight - the dog is flat out and I'm just watching The Yorkshire Vet waiting for a respectable time that I can go to bed and not be awake 2 hours later.
No wine or snacks today so I'm still on the straight and narrow and almost 12000 steps done. I had toyed with the idea of a run after work but after the dog walk was just too tired. Will try to go tomorrow. I'll get back into the swing of work after a couple of days and will perk up again.
    Hope so anyway! :)
  • Happy weekend!! :)
    We made it!
A really long and tiring week at work - will hopefully find my work legs again soon as mine are aching and genuinely tired by the end of the day. No big dramas though, just the usual tough first week.
The new head seems nice and we've had a couple of meetings this week with just the two of us - all going well so far thankfully.
I've managed to do all next week's planning so at least that's something I don't have to do this weekend and there's no big work tasks that need doing before Monday so I can relax a bit.

Have had a fairly busy morning so far - did a 2km dog walk first thing hen went straight back out to do a 4km run - haven't been since last Sunday so just wanted to test my legs and will do a longer one tomorrow. Then did the worst ever domestic job of emptying the Hoover and cleaning the filters etc before giving the whole house a thorough clean - hoovering, dusting, cleaning wooden floors and skirtings, deep cleaning the kitchen, downstairs loo and bathroom, bins, recycling and, finally, a load of washing. All spic and span now and smelling freshly cleaned :) - always makes me happy.
Have also had a soak in the bath listening to my new audiobook - quite good so far.
I'm going for a walk at a national trust property this afternoon with my friend and dogs with a late lunch/early tea at a dog friendly pub afterwards, looking forward to it. I've averaged about 11,000 steps a day this but am already on 10,000 today so will probably get to at least 15,000 today.

The only chores left to do this weekend are dyeing my hair and grocery shopping, both of which I'll do tomorrow. It's not payday until Friday and I'm trying hard not to go mad and spend what I haven't got so the groceries will be as little as possible but I do need lots of cleaning stuff, laundry detergent, some toiletries and dog food ..... It all seems to disappear at the same time. I have been good at using things up though, I'm down to the bare bones of toiletries now and have almost used up all the cleaning things. I'm not sure I like not having any reserves.....

Had a lovely walk in the autumn sunshine and properly tired out the pooch thankfully.
Having a nice quiet Saturday night in, just watching a bit of telly (sat through Strickly even though I can't stand it!) and looking forward to an early night with no alarm in the morning.

I've done a shopping list ready for tomorrow and a freezer inventory so I know what I need and have eaten up leftovers and fridge contents for the past two days - it's looking really bare now.

I've got a small list of things to do tomorrow to get me organised,..
    1. Dye hair
    2. Cut grass
    3. Hoover car
    4. Darks wash
    5. Run
    6. Puppy school
    7. Grocery shopping
    8. Ironing

Will try to get most of it done in the morning after the first dog walk to give me as much of the day free as possible.
    Off to watch Split .....
