• Catching up on your diary ? Sorry to read that it's been a tough few days. What a good idea to get away to North Wales...stunning countryside and the Snowdonia area in particular is breathtakingly beautiful.

All the best for results day and the data analysis.

Thank you Cat, Maryland, Elnora, Honeysuckle and Buffy. Feeling a bit more positive today - I think going to work has helped by giving me something else to think about. I can't talk about the results yet so my lips are sealed...... ;)
Was in by 6.30ish and got home at 12.30 so not too bad. Didn't sleep brilliantly last night, more weird dreams and pre-results nerves but a bit better than the night before thankfully.

Since being home I've had a bit of lunch, taken the dog for a 45 min walk, cleaned the kitchen, sorted the recycling and bins, put the dry washing away, cleaned the wooden floors and hoovered and dusted downstairs. The house is nice and tidy again now - tidy house, tidy mind and all that....
Have also spoken to mum for half an hour - she's flapping about me being ok in a typical mum mode ;)

I'm back in work for a couple of hours tomorrow morning from 9am to give the kids their results, then coming home again for a short while before going to my head's retirement do in the afternoon/early evening. Could do without it really but needs must....

The rest of the day will probably consist of watching a bit of telly, having a soak in the bath, doing a bit of ironing (trying to do it as soon as its dry instead of creating a huge pile), more dog walking and general faffing about.
Looking forward to a proper sleep tonight.

Back home for a short while after doing the results thing with the kids - some real successes and some disappointments.
Got sent a photo at 10am of my dog in bed with my neighbour! He's having a lovely day - they'll have him back when I go again.
Hopefully I won't be gone too long.....

The relief that must be being felt around the country today. Now I know, particularly from CCL's diary, the effort that goes into the marking but on the flip side I can't help wishing there was a way they could get their results sooner in the holidays so they had more time just to relax before everything starts up again.
Several of my friends' kids had results today - mostly good, a few disappointments and one or two shellshocked. Hopefully they'll let this system bed in so that they can let teachers and pupils get to grips with it for a while rather than tinkering and messing too soon again.
Enjoy your drinks.

• Hope all went well with the results MT - and that the science results were good :D
And I expect you to be relaxing a bit once you're home from the do.

Thanks Joey and Cat - results day is brilliant and awful at the same time for the students AND the teachers. Lots of my own science students did really well, better than expected and those that didn't do any work got what I anticipated they would. I had a lovely email from a student and her mum last night thanking me for everything I'd done - she hugely overachieved in my subject and has now been able to change A level courses as a result. I'm really chuffed for her and it was a lovely gesture to get in touch. My own class results were the best I've had for a few years so a big relief for me too. Hope all of us teachers here did ok too?

Went to the do in the afternoon - it was ok but I wasn't really in the mood and now I know why.... Half way through I started an unexpected hugely heavy period (sorry if it's TMI) - so bad that I had to leave early. Made an excuse up obviously but actually cried quietly in a corner on the tram home - how sad is that??! Bloody menopause.... I never used to be that bad - arrrggghh!!!
It does also partially explain my mood this week - the OH situation is upsetting and draining (he's gone on our holiday today, didn't think I'd be bothered but it turns out I am), throw this in on the top and it's no wonder that've felt so rubbish.

Anyway, yet another bad nights sleep but I'm trying hard to just get on with it so have taken the dog for a long walk in the sunshine (it's clouded over now again though), cleaned the kitchen (broke a glass and a plate and cut my hand whilst doing it - typical of my week!), done the recycling and bins and had a general tidy round.
I'm hoping that the sun comes back out so I can sit out in the garden with a book and some podcasts (still enjoying the Older and Wiser series - very entertaining) and just have a rest. Need to recoup a bit.

Anyway, enough moaning - the afternoon out yesterday was budgeted for and I didn't really drink and left early so the budget wasn't overspent. I even caught the tram there and back (£4.50 return rather than approx £30 in taxis) - quite weirdly proud of myself for doing that, not like me ;)
I think I might pop to the supermarket for a few bits to have some nice fresh, healthy food for the next couple of days. I've used up pretty much everything in the fridge and cupboards and don't want to eat the homemade ready meals I've made in the freezer for when I'm back in work.
I also need to ring the caretaker of the cottage to confirm arrival time etc for Monday and think about what to take - the weather looks pretty good thankfully.
I bumped into my new neighbour friend while walking the dog last night and she's suggested going out again or taking the dogs out in the next day or two. Not sure I feel like it today but will make the effort before I go away. One of her neighbours was with her and she seemed really nice too - maybe expanding the social circle will be a good thing.
I need to get back into running again too - went a few times last week but none this week - tomorrow!!!
• Well done on your results and how lovely to get feedback from your student.

Not sad at all - you've had a lot on recently and sometimes you just need a release.

The OH situation is likely due to 'the what might have been' – you know this I'm sure but it doesn’t make it any easier at the moment.

Great news on the results and how lovely of your student and their mum to email you.

Yes this is a good thing and I'm sure sharing some nights outs, dog walks and generally having some good laughs will make things easier for you.

Sorry things have been difficult recently. You seemed to be coping so well with the breakup but you haven't really had time to grieve over the end of your relationship and adjust to a new single life. Knowing that OH is off on holiday without you has probably hurt you even though you didn't actually want to go with him. It will take time to build up a new social life but you are making efforts to do that and it will definitely benefit you. Of course on top of all the emotional stuff you are going through a drug induced menopause which is not pleasant and has awful side effects. Considering all this you are actually doing really well so don't be too hard on yourself for feeling sad. Maybe your holiday will be just what you need to make you feel better. Here's hoping for good weather.
