Ignorant drivers are roundabouts in the driving test anymore?

And that is why I ended up going around a roundabout on the North Circular 3 times before I could work myself out to an outside lane to exit0

Why post this - it was funny the first 5000 times.0 -
(...actually I was driving my BMW!)0

Any roundabout, irrespective of exit numbers:
Taking 1st exit, indicate left. Taking 2nd exit, do not indicate until passing 1st exit, then indicate left. For 3rd and subsequent exits, stay in correct lane and don't indicate until passing penultimate exit, unless taking last exit, in which case stay in lane nearest to roundabout centre and indicate right until passing penultimate exit, then filter left and indicate left. Stay in correct lane! Works for me.0 -

An outrageous slur against BMW drivers. I followed an M3 recently trying to break the sound barrier in a residential area that DID indicate. He later pulled over at the kerbside and stopped, I was at least half way past him overtaking at about 20 mph when he floored it, took off and left me stranded on the opposite side of the road!
Excellent BMW driving and indicating too.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0 -
The simplest way to remember how to indicate approaching a roundabout is to think how you would indicate if there was just a junction there instead of a roundabout, ie. left if going left, none if going straight, right if going right.
When on the roundabout you should indicate left before taking your exit.
The idea is to indicate to other road users what your intentions are. Rules 184 & 186 in the HC spell it out.0 -
It may work for you, but it's not what the HC says. If the 2nd exit is to the right, you should signal right, and the same applies for 3rd and subsequent exits.
Straight, ie. along the top of the T in either direction, is not to the right, though.
Again, how would you indicate if the roundabout wasn't there?0 -

That sounds like the mega roundabout where the A40 crosses the North Circular. I once found myself waiting at the lights there and in the wrong lane by several lanes. Fortunately I was at the front and my XJ8 outdragged everything (even the Transits) and I got across into the correct lane.0 -
