With a slowdown in the housing market and people looking to rent reather than buy, is this a good opportunity for the BTL'ers to increase the rents to more realistic levels?

Is this a genuine question or have you just started this thread to gloat about how much money you think you're going to make out of your BTL?

I have been a landlord of several properties for over 20 years and I have never let a property on a new tenancy for less rent than a previous tenant had paid.

Honestly- well done, but sometimes its about damage limitation, so no need to personalise your opinions/beliefs against Biggie.

Its a general question, but as always, the British have a problem with people making money. I honestly don't envy ANYONE. I work for what i've got, never claimed off the state and never will.

There are those that are happy to take what is not theirs or prefer everyting to be handed to them on a plate. Why resent the actions of those who are prepared to work hard and make plans for their own retirement.

Compared to today's prices, those that have bought houses at most others times practically did.

You seem to foolishly imply that the effort required to buy two properties remains constant.

You have the same opportunity to own two homes if you want to, we all start off with nothing, but you reap what you sow. Speculating on asset prices with borrowed money isn't 'working'.

    Sorry, but it just isn't.
Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!

Those that gloat are generally insecure. I wouldn't worry about it.

1, 2, 3, 4 properties, does it matter, houses prices are what they are, if you can afford one the buy one, if not rent, its quite simple really.

There are ways of getting on the property market if you're prepared to make the effort and sacrifices, if not then don't whinge and accept you can't be bothered and rent.

This is a forum about money saving, not a forum on how to take as much money as possible from other people. People who tend to be the poorest & most vulnerable in society.

I think you should look at yourself, at what you are, at your attitude & ask yourself if you are proud to be the person you are, look back to your youth & think whether you then would like the person you are now?
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

And there goes another who has tried and failed...

Is it me, or is there a core group of posters round here who have a severe lack of reasoning

When they realise they ain't got a leg to stand on, I suppose they would begin to talk b*llocks.
