  • To rent at a higher cost, or simply unsavoury tenants that you wanted out?

    Housing benefit rules change in April, I don't want to be lumbered with a tenant who can't pay rent, im not a social landlord. Looking to do a couple of improvements and get a young professional couple in. Never had a void period round here (fingers crossed I never will, however I am more than covered if the need arises)

    You can't serve a S21 before a tenancy commences, A S21 is generally served about 3 months before the end of an AST, although many LL and LA often serve at the commencement of the tenancy.

    How do you equate renting a property as greed?, my tenants probaby have a safer more regukated home than I do.

Most of my friends renting in London simply don't have any spare money to pay rent increases - remember that 'demand' in economics is demand that people can express in cash. It's not called 'supply and aspiration'.

  • It is always possible that rent may be lower than before as rent is negotiable at the start of every tenancy and some people are better negotiators than others.

    Good negotiating skills are valuable in most market places.

    I wonder how much all these BTL people have driven up the market and helped to not only make it impossible for others to buy, but then force them to pay extortionate rents? Since if we can't buy, we have to rent ...

    Thats a 1 bed flat my friend, im talking about a 3 bed house

    but hey £650 for a 1 bed flat, the price of a 3 bed house almost anywhere else.

    That's hardly a house!

    Many East Europeans will work 90 hours a week to EARN their money (often cash-in-hand) and save on rent by sharing houses.

    You have the same opportunity to own two homes if you want to, we all start off with nothing, but you reap what you sow. There are those that are happy to take what is not theirs or prefer everyting to be handed to them on a plate. Why resent the actions of those who are prepared to work hard and make plans for their own retirement.

    As GG says- the eastern europeans are prepared to EARN their money, the British (yes im British) expect everything as a devine right.

    I have been a landlord of several properties for over 20 years and I have never let a property on a new tenancy for less rent than a previous tenant had paid.
