Had similar issue, sent the iPhone locked to EE network, they come back to me telling that phone is unlocked therefore they will pay £15 less, no way is acceptable as unlocked phones normally cost more and phone is definitely locked to EE and never was unlocked, so requested to return my phone back and two weeks later managed to get original fee as they promised as it seems to me every operator telling different lies, so I have mentioned on last call do I need to report their company to police? as clearly they do try to scam people and my phone was lost, so last operator spoke to manager and they did paid me as agreed within 24 hours.

Based on experience I will never use them again as they are scam artists!

Firstly you’re living in a dreamland if you think anything you’ve written would be of any interest to the police.

Secondly, I suspect you’ve either misunderstood something or misrepresented the situation, a quick check of a few iPhones shows that they pay more for the unlocked versions than the EE locked versions.

Could you post up a screenshot of the email to show what they actually said (after redacting your name and order number, of course)?

  • I sent a 10 month old Samsung S8 to Music Magpie. The phone was in perfect condition. But 2 days later I got a message that there were some pixels missing so they would offer me £300 less. I asked them to return the phone.

It seems they quote the highest price online, only for them to find faults and reduce the amount payable. I would have believed my phone was faulty if it wasn't for the posts on here, which makes me wonder if this is their customary policy.

    Avoid!
  • Urgh...

A few years back I used MM for dvds and got an ok price and had no issues, so in October I got a decent price for my Xbox and sent it in. Took ages to process and several emails chasing them up. Finally got a reply stating that it was faulty and they reduced the price by half.
Naturally i requested a send back, which they did....only it was not my Xbox they sent.

I was able to prove my S/N and that the machine returned was not mine, MM claim it is. I am currently going through legal channels to recover whats owed.

Lesson learnt....always check. I can not believe the company has fallen so low in the last few years.

Bait & Switch seems to be a Music Magpie speciality.
  • Iphone £50.10 missing december 2019

i am waiting for my money still, musicmagpies terms and conditions basically try to wash there hands and lay blame with you if you do not get your money.

Take a screenshot or photo of the page when supplying your payment information. So as to have something to look back on if something goes wrong, as there is nowhere in your account where you can view payment details you have given.

I triple checked and then my wife checked it. My payment has gone missing and i am being currently fobbed off with a basic if i filled it out correctly i would have the money.

When asking for further information i am being told that they can not supply any due to data protection. Even though i am requesting my information.

I have now made a data access request for all information held on my account which i believe by law they have to supply.

For all i know they could have a dishonest employee or a glitch on the system.

I have had 3 successful payouts in the past.

So, I got in touch with Citizen's advice and on my behalf they passed my details to Trading Standards. My last email with MM was that the case was closed and the fault was mine and that they did not ever recieve an Xbox with my S/N.
A few weeks later Trading standards requested all my correspondance with MM and stated they would speak to them. Literally 2 hours after they spoke to MM.....MM stated they had found my Xbox and it was all a big misunderstanding etc etc. They are now paying me the full original quote. Funny that.
My advice, go through Trading Standards where you can, takes a few weeks to a month but they carry enough clout that MM will seek to resolve before an official investigation is launched against them.
  • Would I want to deal with a company that is advertising a pristine 128GB green iphone 11 for £794.99 (after £30 off so originally £824.99) when I can buy exact same phone new from Apple for £779? Hmm!!!
  • I've used them in the past & everything was fine.
Last week I used them to sell an old iPhone 6 64gb unlocked in good condition for £47.
I did use price comparison and trust sites before using them - which is a shame because I guess I was jaded by their star rating.

I got an email yesterday saying they've had to revise my price because the screen is cracked! This is impossible as it was wrapped in bubble wrap four times over and in very secure packaging!
Everything else passed, which is suspect because how can the front camera be okay if the screen is that cracked?!

I've declined the offer and sent a very distraught email and told them if they return my phone in any other condition from which is was sent in I'll be pursuing it.
    I'm so so mad!
  • Just had my Huawei returned from Musicmagpie, it was sent in excellent condition in its original box with charger and leads, I turned down their derogatory offer which had gone down to £3.00 from £30.00 saying that the screen exhibited white spots. I can only assume that the phone was sent back via the Sahara desert as the screen appears to have been in a severe sandstorm and sat on by a camel as it is now cracked in two places! well done Musicmagpie but you had to pay to send it back to me and at least I have a spare charger now, I don't really care about the phone and I will never use your service again, I leave the reader to make their own conclusions.
