I loved Jury Service.
It was a real experience although very boring at times with a lot of waiting around.
Good time to catch up on a good book.
Tell them I will do it!!0 -
How many days/hours were waiting time and actual time spent in court?0

I'm acting on the behalf of someone else so you got that wrong?
Why would I need an excuse and he was exempt last year? Its the same reason.
No you don't need an excuse.
But you do need to respond to the court about exemption. They are not mind readers.I've received some good feedback, however people can show their own egos if they want i welcome it.
Just comments on your disjointed questions and answers. Its not about being employed or not, you could be self employed or own property overseas with an income the principle is why should you attend court to give your free or paid time away when there is no contract with terms and conditions in place with valid consent and signature agreed? Someone especially with near dementia could forget if they have a bad carer or no carer who forgot their jury duty appointment could be contempt of court?? With a possibility of going to jail or fine for someone else contempt or they simply forgot?
Well private carers get paid £100 per day for sitting having tea with disabled people and they call it we are safeguarding individuals from intruders.
You make make it easy for yourself (or the person you're acting on behalf of) and just do what needs to be done.
Or you can showboat and make things more difficult.Disabled people should have the option to be indefinitely exempt put 1 request through and thats them off the system? The courts must be thinking that in 5 years time the disabled person won't be disabled? So would be eligible for jury duty?
In the end it should be a choice rather than enforcement the age we live in.
If you think the system is wrong, do something productive about it.

Most of the time is waiting around to be called.
It all depends if the accused plea guilty before the trial is about to start.
Also on one case we were all sworn in and then had to leave while the barristers spoke to the judge.
When we went back in the case was dismissed due to discussions on Facebook which were ruled to be prejudicial to the defendant.
We were supposed to be there for two weeks but a big case was transferred to another court so they told us we were no longer needed after one week.
I was quite disappointed.0
