Jury Duty Anyone Been Fined?

I was called for jury duty just before Christmas. I completed the online form stating that I wished to be excused as I did not have access to childcare for my eight year old. About a week later I received a letter confirming that I was excused. I did not have to provide any evidence.0

well done I have found you could say anything and be excused.0

It's just like the banks they never come to your house to check whos living there when they have a mortgage to ensure the correct people are living there people could be doing anything renting out to someone else when in fact someone else's name is on the mortgage not allowed to rent it out?
Airbnb done on a massive scale?0 -
I'm asking from a practical viewpoint as they say they will do xyz but they don't do anything as I have experienced with other authorities we live in a world full of threats and its upto people to give in to them or not.
Well I for one hope they do do xyz. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
But you're not going to get practical advice with the meagre and disjointed information you're giving out.
That's one of the examples shown on Gov.uk.
Does it matter?
Don't you or 'someone' need to deal with the alleged failure to attend for jury duty that the letters refer to first?
And do it before the lack of response to the courts gets any more serious.
You might talk about threats and giving in or not but personally I'd not mess with that particular 'authority'.
Yes, it does matter why are disabled people being harassed by the courts needing doctors exemptions every 6 months. There is more and more jury duty requests than ever from what i can remember 5 or 10 years ago you never got a letter about jury duty now they are coming in droves every 6 months requiring disabled people to go to the doctors to get a letter? It's a sham system that cares about itself than the people.parkrunner wrote: »Well I for one hope they do do xyz.
Why? Your only a national insurance number to them not a honourable man working for the benefit of mankind. They do not know who you are.0 -

You misunderstood my point.
I meant that you or 'someone' needed to deal with the current call for jury duty, rather than worry about whether exemption is for a limited time or indefinitely.
If you believe that disabled people are being discriminated against or harassed then bring it to someone's attention - maybe your MP.
Although I do find it hard to believe that disabled people are being called for jury duty as often as you claim they are.
Expose this sham system.
If it's true, it needs exposing.0 -
I wanted to skip jury duty when I was younger, I sent off the form stating that I have utter contempt for the justice system and all those who serve it and suggested I may not be the most suitable to serve on a jury but I am willing to do so if they insist.
They replied promptly to tell me my services will not be required.
Send off the form explaining the circumstances and see what they say.0 -

Thats what I'm talking about, nice and raw right to the point. Would like to try it at least. You can say anything, but if the courts do discover that somebody lied to get out of jury service they are likely to find themselves in court charged with contempt.
Your not lying your telling the truth how you see the court system and jury service. For me if they are willing to pay me £100 per day for jury service I am willing to do it simples. You misunderstood my point.

Well, if your on the voters roll it doesn't matter if your disabled or not you will receive the same amount of requests. They don't know the person who requires wheelchair/lift access, which a lot of buildings don't have. As i say all you are to them is a national insurance number on a computer with a record.0
