Evening all :hello:
Not much to report today. Small spend on the way home from work tonight as I needed a couple of £1 bags of chocolate for school prizes I'd promised to Year 7.
Busy but productive day today at work. Every now and again I get a chance to do a bit of proper school work, preparing presentations in school time - and I managed to do that today so I'm really pleased.
Got home, got the washing machine on the go, had a shower, got my clothes out ready for tomorrow. Still need to have a look through my recipe books and see what I can make for my dinner tomorrow night. I have feta to use up so something with that.
No rain here, but it's cooled right down again
I'm back under one of my blankets. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Not much else to say, checked precarious bank balance as will have to buy diesel tomorrow for about £15 as cost about £5 a day to go to work and I'm very lucky to have 2 days of extra work this week.
Will walk to shop, clean kitchen and totter off to bed.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning folks
Forecast for sunshine and showers today. OH and I are off to a local-ish seaside town to get his hair cut. It's a long trip for a hair cut but we treat it as a day out. Will likely pop in to see the in-laws on the way back.
Today's small things:- B/D from stores
- L at fave cheapy cafe
- Reconcile budget sheet
- Check garden to see if anything needs attention
- Rotate seedlings in windowsill. Basil finally showing signs of germination. For some reason basil is my gardening nemesis
- Poss a bit of crochet. Am a bit bored with my current wips
Have a good one all

Apologies have been awol, RL has definitely been getting in the way
Had a good bank holiday weekend, Sat/Sunday DD and I were away. Spendy but we always split the costs.
Things are moving forward with hospital, being admitted soon for 5 days of tests. Because of the deterioration and delay due to my delightful health board, hospital are repeating everything and then some. What a waste of money and resources as everything was ready for operation last year but now even more tests are having to be done. Tbh will just be relieved to get thru the doors and be back.
Quidco checked
Did Martins big bill check over bank holiday as I have been unhappy with Plusn*t, both the cost and problems we have with the Internet.
Have switched saving £9 a month plus £50 bonus thru quidc*
Need to sort my mobile phone next
Made use of getting 3 cauliflowers for a £1 with the tesc@ special and a couple of Easter bits half price that DD and I just didn't get chance to get
Bought good quality deodorant cheap on Amaz@n. Have cat food on a subscribe and save which meant unlocking extra 15% of savings making the deodorant very cheap so have stocked up with 6 for me and DD.
Small amount of decluttering done. Some candles sold on ebay.
Really need to drop items off at CS but weather has taken a turn and we have alot of rain
Think that's about it so far
Have a great day everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Morning all :hello: hope you're sorted soon HK
RL throwing us a couple of curve balls at the moment, proving to be challenging. I thought it was sorted a week ago and now something else has happened, it just feels never ending at the moment. Oh well, small list to keep on the stratight and narrow:
Cancelled fruit box as there is little variety at the moment and it's not worth it if we're not eating all of it.
E mailed company where my online account has disappeared for a second time in as many months, which is annoying when I have something on repeat from them
Mince out of freezer for tea
Small shop for fresh fruit and veg. Want to get less than 10 items.
Go to doctors to order prescription and then I'll have to go and collect it next week. They obviously assume no one works, as it all has to be done in person. Sigh.
Check banking
Check money I paid over to just for points cc has cleared
Track food
Go up in loft and get gift down
Have a good day all. Purps.0 -
Morning all,
Have abandoned my job list today. Have been pottering about doing jobs though & so today's frugal achievements will look something like this:
*Watered greenhouse veggies & outside seed troughs.
*Did a couple of surveys.
*Bake wholemeal cobs - dough just getting ready for shaping & 2nd proving.
*Eating up leftovers.
*Next week's meal plans written.
*Shopping list done.
*Intending to clean bathroom.
*Ironing - not touched this yet. In fact have shut the door on it.
*Update my diary with camping dates, latest wheelie bin collection days, etc.
*Put garden waste wheelie bin out - this is our paid for bin so I don't want to waste any of our annual fee by forgetting to present it for collection.
*Sorted through freezer.
*Continue current Stash knitting project. Didn't do any last night. Will do double today.
*Feed kitchen scraps to composting worms in our wormery.
*Finalise plans with mr f for birthday weekend - it shouldn't be too spendy as we've got a voucher for a discount at a not-too-expensive eating place plus a free one-off pass for both of us for an expensive attraction we would normally not visit as it's nearly £20 per person to get in, plus petrol as it's not in our home county, & it has a lovely coffee shop which we will defo want to visit, so getting our admission free makes it much more affordable.
*Avoid vet bills by refusing to let cat out of front door (on the basis he's usually too lazy to go out of his flap & walk round) - he went out yesterday, luckily followed by me, as I was putting something in the bin, & the local Thug Cat who is still very much at large along with his trouble nuggets, was just out of sight waiting to jump him. Managed to grab our lad & unceremoniously shove him under my arm & bring him indoors while he was hissing with fury. I wish he was afraid of Thug Features, but he isn't, despite coming off worst in every scrap they've had. Bloody cats!!
Anyway, as I'm in pottering about doing jobs as I see them mode, I shall probably manage a fair bit more as I go along.
Wishing everyone a productive day.
Oh, & CLF - Basil likes it warm & can be quite troublesome to grow in the UK. I mostly do ok with planting it out in my greenhouse borders around my tomato plants, but there have been a couple of years where I've struggled with it.
Cheers,
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Morning all

Just back from market - got a big shopping bag full of peppers, mushrooms and bananas for £3
Also bought a couple of pairs of jeans from CS - they may be a bit snug for now, but I am determined to shift the weight I put on over winter
Bought a load of glassware from the flea market, so must wash this and put away with rest of sales stock Done
Other plans:
Update spending diary and bin receipts once I have done so Done
Some housework, my furniture is mostly old dark oak or mahogany stuff, proper antiques, cheap as chips as it is out of fashion, and will last several more lifetimes if looked after. I love it - trouble is it don't half show the dust! Lounge and kitchen need hoovering as well
Dusting / hoovering done in dining room. Hoovered living room and dusted off big dresser. Volunteered OH to finish hoovering downstairs while I started the dinner
Plant tomato plants that are to go in the mini greenhouse now it is painted and back on its base. Done, planted yellow cherry ones
Water any seedlings that need it Done
Do something with not very nice leftover gammon from a small joint cooked yesterday. Some sort of casserole with lots of veg I think! Made a sort of cross between a soup and a casserole, much nicer than it sounds! Added an onion, some garlic, carrots, celery, potatoes, a red pepper, some mushrooms, lentils and pearl barley, a tin of tomatoes and a squirt of tomato puree, thyme from the garden, and a chicken stockpot thingy. Had a brainwave and also added some shredded cabbage / onion /carrot mixture left over from making coleslaw, and a leftover tablespoon or so of HM bbq sauce, which made it really tasty. Had this in bowls, nothing needed with it, so really easy, and there is enough left for lunch tomorrow with a slice of toast
And it used up some leftovers from the fridge :T
Look for online surveys later None today
Check banks and update spreadsheet Done
Read meters and enter readings onto energy company's web site Done
Also taxed camper van
Made a hair appointment for tomorrow, means spending, but must be done!
Accepted a wedding invitation
Made a charity donation
Started shopping list, just a small one, as OH is threatening to go beer shopping tomorrow - so he might as well get the few gtocery bits I need as well while he is at it!
Load of washing on, hoping it will dry outside tomorrow
Hope you all have a good day

CLF, following on from my advice earlier, you could also smash a pound of meat and 12 eggs a day for your meals. This would help lift more, although is neither good for DFW or the waistline :rotfl:
Afternoon all,
Today's been productive already:
Switched overdraft to FD (£250 of £350 is now 0%) before paying off completely next payday :T
Cleaned conservatory top to bottom. Condensation leaves mould in places that are so hard to reach. Done now though and it's sparkling and smells like bleach! Just in time for the rain :rotfl:
Batch cooked more jambalaya.
Checked energy club. Nothing cheaper than what I'm on already :T
Time to chill and read some diaries and watch Netflix (no sky here thankyou) before work tonight.
Have a great day all

Hello all, Hope everyones ok (Ziggy, hope you're feeling better soon)
We were meant to be away until tomorrow but came home last night as one of the kids had been unwell. A night in our own beds and we are all feeling more human.
A bit of a list for today but all still in holiday mode so nothing startling!
* showered and continued using the complimentary shower gel/shampoo from our break
* breakfast was a shared danish we'd brought home and some ys bread from the freezer for toast
* opened an bank account for ds1 online - just need to take in proof of id
* popped into town with my id but forgot ds' birth certificate  ah well, we are going into town at thte weekend anyway so will try again then!
* popped into cex & the charity book shop but nothing we wanted/needed (I have a list of the books that dh wants to complete a series he likes in my purse so that we can pick up the ones we are missing if we see them)
* called into icyland as I had a rm voucher for there, bought milk, bread and eggs
* updated kids pocket money pages in my bullet journal, with spends from the holiday. They both know to check in the book before thinking about spending.
* watched a film from our stash with the kids & shared a bag of popcorn that was in the back of the car when we emptied it??!!
* got some meat out of the freezer so that I can cook something from scratch tomorrow
* checked banking and updated spreadsheet
I think thats about it Take care all .
oh and Baileysbabe thank you for your post last week, I did get the packing done eventually and do have a packing list in bullet journal ready for next time now thank you for the idea!
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
